In every game I play with him, he's the MVP when it comes to combat; so far, he hasn't died once (even when surrounded on all 4 sides, or even when all the Temple Guard and the Slann are dead), and once he even killed a Chaos Lord in one round of combat (:o)! Is this just because he's so awesome, or just because I'm ridiculously lucky?!

Hah, I would say luck has something to do with it, we do play a game of dice.

But no, he's got a great statline and ruleset. Quite expensive, but probably a great hero too.

heh - i played in a 2250 point tournament this weekend where it was enouraged to take stupid things and special characters etc, so i took chakax, kroak and a decent unit of TG, with some skink skirmishers and 2 priests on stegadons for support.

my chakax over the 3 games we played managed 2 wounds on malekith (which were healed back the following turn with his stupid soul stealery spell), and died in every game. for all those points too.... though to be fair, he did keep kroak alive in every game :P (only just though, kroak was down to 1 wound in the second game)

imo he's terrible... he's only half decent when in a challenge, so most people will just decline a challenge.

And his pure stats are identical to a Scar-Vet. His SS save is one better, but IMHO he isn't really worth his points, unless it's a big game and he'll be guarding a Slann. Even then, you could use the points to get another Scar-Vet and have some left over for some more troops to guard him.

If you happen to play against a player or Army that challenges a lot (my friend's WoC Army has to challenge) Chakax can be worth it.

I just used Chakax in the last game I played. 4000 points against WOC. I challenged him and he used his lord on horseback. He had a ridiculous weapon (demons blade or something?) which in its rules said its effects couldnt be ended. Since that and the star-stone mace did pretty much exact opposite things, we rolled on it and I lost. Even so, i think it still would have killed him. More wounds and way better stats. IMO the guy should have 3 wounds for 355 points. I could have made a disgustingly powerful old-blood if I dropped him and would have cost less (I had the room for another lord). Maybe this was just an extreme condition for poor Chakax, but I dont see myself using him all too often, at least not against an army that focuses on close combat.

Really? As far as I know, WoC don't have any weapon that says that. Still, I'm probably just pretty lucky with him. Also, he is expensive, I know, but if he had 3 wounds then he probably wouldn't have been a hero (yes, i know there are some man-sized heroes with 3 wounds, but those are an exception). And he wouldn't be particularly useful as a lord, now would he?
