I like this idea! I already have the minis! :D

As for this Meeting Engagement thing... you know, it doesn't really affect me much right now. I don't have any artillery, most of my Battleline are smaller units currently, and I only have one Behemoth at the moment.

I dont really like that format. I think its a totally different game. But lets see, I think I would play this:

    Allegiance: Seraphon
    Leaders
    Slann Starmaster (260)
    Engine of the Gods (220)

    Battleline
    10 x Skinks (60)
    10 x Skinks (60)

    Units
    3 x Ripperdactyl Riders (140)
    3 x Ripperdactyl Riders (140)
    3 x Terradon Riders (120)

    Total: 1000

    Spearhead
    - Slann, for t1 CCCP stacking
    - Skinks
    - Rippers
    - Terradons

    Main
    - EotG
    - Skinks
    - Rippers

Try to pump out as many skinks. I dont see any use of the rearguard.

Might switch the first unit of rippers for 10 saurus and a balewind. Have them and the skinks lock things in place and bring in the flyers with the main. Depens on the new GHB tho and the missions.

    What would you guys play?

if i'm correct, you HAVE TO put at least one unit in each parts of the army so you have to have a rearguard ( 10 skinks ;D )

I wonder if there will be any changes for summoning.

If there's no restrcitions on it, Seraphon are in a good place. Shadowstike fits perfectly too, because there won't be much units on the table and almost nothing to screen valuable targets with.

Razrodons are restricted to turn 3, so I see no reason to take them, if they can be summoned.

True, but a lot of those deathstar hordes are barely functional at minimum size. Especially the older ones. Something newer like say witch aelves are fine, they'l not be as killy, but 10 witch aelves still have a baseline of 20 attacks of which roughly a third will hit and that's ignoring any special abilities or external buffs. But something like skeletons or saurus warriors who depend on having a minimum size to have decent base stats effecitlvy get broken by this rule.

If this is going to work for those older units they'l need to adapt those rules. Admittadly changing those horde rules would definitly be a good thing.

Sadly horde death stars that are still functional at minimum size seem to be rare compared to the ones that become useless.

Really liking the look of this new way to play, I often play smaller games on a small board at home so it will fit in perfectly! :)

Hearthguard Berzerkers will also have a fun time with their boosted profiles and opportunities to synergise with heroes to boost their armour saves and get that juicy 4+ ward save - there won't be that much that can touch them with the reduced horde potency.

Also it's one in the eye to Flesh Eater Gristlegore lists, as their battleline Behemoths can't be deployed at the same time - one has to be deployed in the Main Body and one in the Rearguard.

SCE as well will barely notice the new rules. Hell, they have so many variants of what's basicly the same unit that even the "you can only bring 2 copies" rule barely affects them. Especially their mounted units are going to have a field day given that those are extremely elite forces and without artillery, behemoths & hordes there isn't a whole lot they have to fear.

I am definitely liking this format for my Fyreslayers. just started them (right before the new book ) and have ~1K in units (get started (father on the 'droth), 10x hearthguard, 5x Auric, 10x Vulkites) so ill just run the smiter on foot and sneak those zewrkers in nice and close with a +1 to their save and charge in.... 2 mortals on 6's to hit from 21 attacks will ANIHILATE pretty much anything.

I've heard rumours that Morrsarr Guard are losing the ability to be battleline. That might shake up the Deepkin formula a bit - maybe Namarti will start to look more appealing.

I doubt it - currently both sets of Eel cavalry are battleline with an Akhelian General, so even if Morrsarr Guard are removed from Battleline options, Ishlaen might still be usable as Battleline. Most eel cavalry lists contain a mix of Ishlaen and Morrsarr as Ishlaen are the heavily-armoured anvil unit that Deepkin put out in front to soak up missile fire thanks to the army special rule, while the Morrsarr are then used to charge into the ares where they inflict the most hurt. It just means that they will have to have at least 2 separate Ishlaen Guard units in their army, which they can rotate so that if one has soaked up as much missile fire as it can, the other can step in and take over.

Also personally I just don’t like the Namarti at all, lorewise or gamewise - the whole blind elf idea is a bit creepy and they’re too squishy to use to soak up missile fire, so you have to include some Ishlaen or a Leviadon anyway to protect them until they get into melee.

I heard, that rumors for GHB on TGA ended up being some kind of wishlist that was mistaken for a rules leak. But who knows. I still agree that the most units can be fixed by points.

I'm the same way about the Namarti. I don't like their models, and I use Witch Aelves in their place. I would have preferred some other kind of aelven skirmisher unit.

Anyone got any idea how much the new GHB bumper edition is going to cost?

I expect 40 bucks or so. IIRC that's what the others cost as well.
