    Hi!

Although it looks like I'm showing off, and sort of I was but that was for something else entirely. But I realized one little thing regarding my Snowaphon thread where described my current project:

    40x Saurus warriors with spears
    15x Saurus knights with spears
2x Scar-vets on cold one (from converting)
    1x Old blood on Carnosaur
Undecided between 1x scar-vet on Carnosaur Vs skink on Troglodon (I guess which would be most effective in a battle for coalesced army)
    1x Skink priest
    Potentially 1x Slann

Based on the pic, I have most things, but I've decided to change from Slann to Kroak and to also procure a Sunblood.

My question is, based on this list, would it be a decent force or do I need to change something up massively? And what combination/set-up would make this the most effective fighting force? Keep in mind I am dead-set on coalesced.

Also, I really like chameleons, would they be very useful in such a force as coalesced?

Suggestions, opinions, debates are all heartily welcome.

    RAWR!

Knights are awesome, i love the knights.
Personally a starpriest is an auto include in almost any list, they are so good, especially for the knights to receive the venom buff.

the regular skink priest has no use for what you have as it is only useful for skink units.

scar vet is always good, trog might be better to help kroak out a bit though.

Neat! Are 15 Saurus knights alright or is it better to have 20. Also what's more effective for Knights, a unit of 10 or a unit of 20? Also is Firelance Temple host a must for Knights?

I dont think the firelance is must by any means. If you feel the Command point, artefact and are in need of that +3” to charge then thats a call for you to make. But for the same price of the battalion you can have another 5 knights and more.

i dont see how a 20 would ever be worth using as its way too many to be able to all fight. I like using 1 or 2 units of 10 buffed by a starpriest personally. Fives are good as sort of skirmish cavalry.

10 knights in coalesced, koatls claw have 7 attacks per model, on the charge they hit on 2s 3s and 4s for their different profiles. The starpriest can then make it so that all of wound rolls will deal a mortal on a 6, its brutal

Thanks for the advice! I have yet to paint anything, let alone play my first game. So I'm taking the time to learn the ins and outs of creating a list and about the Seraphon and their capabilities in general. Therefore thanks again, I'll go with your suggestion.

Also, if you don't mind me asking, does Kroak need the Saurus guard? Or if I keep him far enough at the back he could still dish out damage and be safe?

And finally, just so that I understand, a Troglodon acts like a sort power beacon that Kroak can use to extend the range of his spells? Or did I completely misunderstand the purpose for the Troglodon?

Kroak is in less need of guards as a regular slann as kroak has a 4+ ward save (so he is effectively 14 wounds) but if you can fit the points, Having 5 guard Will keep him very safe.

the troglodon yes is essentially a conduit for kroaks spells. Any spell that a slann (or kroak) casts can have the range measured from the troglodon instead. Your opponent still needs to be within 30” of kroak to unbind.

this means you can hide kroak at the back and as long as you have the trog Alive, all of kroaks spells can be cast through it

Sweet! Thanks a bunch, I will go with the Troglodon then, plus with the recent decrease in points it makes him a bit more worthwhile

Then the last question that I will throw at you, if your kindness hasn't run out on a scrub like me, is in terms of Saurus warriors, they will be all spears like I mentioned, but would it be better to have them as one long blob (I.E. battle line) or two divide them into 2x20? Later I might get a few extra saurus warriors with clubs for variety and maybe have them act as skirmish troops to hold points or whatever.

Big blob is probably better. They are spears so you can fight 2 ranks and they get double attacks if they are more than 15 in the unit so you want to maintain those bodies as long as you can to get the most out of them.
Also the big blob will be more efficient for buffs rather than splitting into 2 units.

so maybe run the big blob of saurus and 1 unit of 10 knights, another of 5.

i hope you have luck triggering people with seraphon as i have

Thank you very much my fellow lizard!

Oh I definitely hope so, Age of Sigmar is slowly getting traction where I'm from (Latvia) and I don't think I've seen anyone run Seraphon, might very well be the only one. Therefore I look forward to the triggering...of the Great Plan!

Coalesced offers basically nothing to Chameleons… HOWEVER, chama skinks can be very useful for coalesced armies, as they offer a thing that coalesced lacks: teleport / deep strike, basically forcing the opponent to play careful on objectives, as if you have Lords of Space and Time.

Now I know more than I did yesterday. Awesome! But just to be clear, aren't coalesced skinks worse than starborne? Also, are sauras/skinks armies common?

Generally, skinks work better in Starborne because of Fangs of Sotek, and sauri work better in coalesced because of predatory fighters and Koatl's claw.
However, skinks with shield and scaly skin, if it happens you meet an army that deals multiple damages, are pretty durable.

That said, skinks armies are more effective than saurus' ones. Unless by "saurus" you mean knights. Which are really good.

Now, to further satiate your hunger for knowledge, i introduce you to the Great Seraphon Overview! ;)
