So this is the first time i'm going up against Ogre Kingdoms, it is also my friends first time with Ogre Kingdoms . So i expect alot of trying out stuff, for him atleast. Here is my army: Slann mage priest Disciplines: Becalming cogitation, focus of mystery, harmonic convergence Magic items: Channeling Staff, Ironcurse Icon Lore of High Magic BSB Saurus Scar-Veteran GW Magic: Armour of destiny Skink Priest lvl 2 Heavens Magic items: Dispell scroll Core 29 Saurus Warriors Full command (scar vet goes in here) 3 units of 10 skinks with blowpipes Special 2 units of 5 cham skinks 4 Kroxigors 28 Temple guards, full command The idea is to soften/harass him with skinks and some magic (if all goes well). Then my unit of saurus or temple guard may stand a change, hopefully with a the unit kroxigors backing it up. Not sure where i should put my skink priest on the battlefield... Alone or in a unit of skinks (if that is allowed anyway). Now i'm open for changes, maybe drop a few TGs and a unit of cham skinks to add another unit of 4 kroxigors, heck maybe a few terradons/rippers. I don't know if they have war machines (not the ones they carry) with gnoblar crew. I know btw if you put all the points together i'm a wee bit over 2k, but we allow (houserule) to go 10 points above the total
Your Skink Priest can be in the Skirmishers unit, but they would lose their Skirmisher special rule so I becomes better to have one unit of cohort Skinks. Overall tactic is fine I think. I would stick with both units of Chamo Skinks as they can either do anti-monster or anti-war machine work. Or just snipe at the Ogre's as they don't have a lot of armour options. Remember that you should use the Skirmishers to direct chargers. He will potentially be on you very fast as (aside from Gnoblars) his base movement is 6. He may also hang back and cannon pound/shoot at you to soften you up, as your two main combat blocks are very slow. I would personally make the Saurus unit bigger as it will definitely suffer shooting casualties of some kind and you want to have it able to still hold it's on in combat. I would also do Ironcurse Icon for the Slann so there is some protection for the TG unit from cannon fire (it's only 5 points, so why not). I'll let you know if I think of anything else.
After reading the rulebook, it says a model on foot can join a skirmish unit, didn't read that they would lose their skirmish option. Dropping a skirmish unit and adding more saurus for it Also picking up that iron curse thingy Cheers for the help
Yep, you're right on the character joining Skirmisher unit. No worries on the help. Take some photos and do a battle rep!
So i edited my list, got 29 saurus warriors now (dropped one skink skirmisher unit) and i added the ironcurse icon, but does this also give saves against the weapons the ogres are carrying? Are those weapons considered war machines? In their rulebook it says for example the leadbelcher gun is a missle weapon.
No, Ironcurse Icon only works against war machine hits. For OK, this would be the Scraplauncher (chariot with a weak stone thrower) and the Ironblaster (chariot with cannon, watch out for the S10 grapeshot!). Still useful. Watch out during your deployment. Any half-decent OK general will get sacrificial Gnoblar units (you can get 10 for 25 points...) so you can dominate deployment by putting down these absolutely pointless units and then know where all of your enemy units will be placed. Hopefully he hasn't cottoned on to this fact. I'd place the Skirmisher units first so you get an idea of where he's placing his troops and then do Saurus/TG last. Since they are the slowest you want them in the best position from the get-go.
This battle is part of a campaign me and a few friends started. We took a random map of the warhammer world (mostly empire parts) and devided them into hexes. This is the first battle of the campaign and i'm going to live stream it through twitch because of covid i'm not inviting the friends who take part in the campaign, only my opponent. You can follow the game via https://www.twitch.tv/morglum001 (i don't know if this is allowed to post my twitch channel here if not, delete it). The game will start around 19.00h belgium time (i think that is gmt+1 brussels) Edit: PS: i'm not going to put to much effort into the stream, otherwise i lose focus on the battle. It streams via the tablet of my gf and we are talking dutch, heck i don't even know the sound quality
Awesome you're doing a campaign. Post a battle report when it's over. I for sure will read it (and don't have the time to log in for several hours to watch your game! sorry)
You can find the battle report here: https://www.lustria-online.com/threads/2k-lizzies-vs-ogre-kingdoms.25551/
