So, I figured now is a good time to try my hand at making some lists with the New Kroak. Maybe he's not the most competitive choice, but I'll be damned if I don't run him sometimes lol. My first ideas are these: ------------------------ Allegiance: Seraphon - Constellation: Koatl's Claw Lord Kroak (430) Saurus Astrolith Bearer (140) - Artefact: Eviscerating Blade Saurus Oldblood on Carnosaur (230) - General - Command Trait: Dominant Predator - Artefact: Blade of Realities Skink Starpriest (120) - Spell: Celestial Harmony Skink Starseer (140) - Spell: Tide of Serpents 5 x Saurus Guard (100) 10 x Saurus Knights (200) - Lances 40 x Saurus Warriors (320) - Spears 10 x Saurus Warriors (90) - Clubs 10 x Saurus Warriors (90) - Clubs Sunclaw Temple-host (140) Total: 2000 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 1 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 130 -------------------------- Allegiance: Seraphon - Constellation: Dracothion's Tail Lord Kroak (430) Saurus Astrolith Bearer (140) Skink Starpriest (120) - Artefact: Godbeast Pendant - Spell: Celestial Harmony Skink Starseer (140) - General - Command Trait: Master of Star Rituals - Spell: Tide of Serpents Skink Priest (70) 10 x Saurus Guard (200) 40 x Skinks (240) - Boltspitters Celestite Daggers & Star Bucklers 10 x Skinks (60) - Boltspitters Celestite Daggers & Star Bucklers 10 x Skinks (60) - Boltspitters Celestite Daggers & Star Bucklers 10 x Skinks (60) - Boltspitters Celestite Daggers & Star Bucklers 10 x Skinks (60) - Boltspitters Celestite Daggers & Star Bucklers 3 x Salamander Hunting Pack (330) Bound Geminids of Uhl-Gysh (70) Total: 1980 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 0 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 150 -------------------------------- Of the two lists, I'm sure the Starborne (which needn't really be Dracothian's tail, it could be FoS or even nothing) list has more legs. That said, my mind is more fixed on the Coalesced list at the moment. There's really about 100 points to play with in it. I've used them to have the Carnosaur, which I imagine would be a good distraction from Kroak. But I could also drop down to a footblood and bring 5 more Guard for Kroak instead. Or I could swap out 5 knights for 5 more guard. I could even drop the battalion and the Oldblood for 5-10 more Guard, an Endless Spell, and even an Eternity Warden, which funny enough might actually not be a complete crap choice if you're bringing Kroak and a bunch of Guard. But most of you would know better than me. Am I thinking about this the right way?
I think that due to how kroak is far more vulnerable now (being that he has no 4++ and can die after 2 wounds) having a good block of guard and running agro or having an oracle is the best way to benefit from him.
I'm gonna borrow you KC list and leaving this FoS for you: Allegiance: Seraphon - Constellation: Fangs of Sotek Leaders Lord Kroak (430) Saurus Astrolith Bearer (140) - Artefact: Serpent God Dagger Skink Oracle on Troglodon (220) - Spell: Fiery Convocation Skink Starpriest (120) - Spell: Hand of Glory Skink Priest (70) Battleline 5 x Saurus Guard (100) 40 x Skinks (240) - Boltspitters Celestite Daggers & Star Bucklers 40 x Skinks (240) - Boltspitters Celestite Daggers & Star Bucklers 10 x Skinks (60) - Meteoric Javelins Celestite Daggers & Star Bucklers Units 3 x Salamander Hunting Pack (330) Endless Spells / Terrain / CPs Extra Command Point (50) Total: 2000 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 1 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 149 You can change the extra CP for any endless spell or leave it at 1950 to gain a triumph. I just bought it to parting shot anything that could come in T1. The idea is to gain enough Summoning points on T1 to teleport you Trog and summon a screen of 10 in front of him so he can't be charged. Then, mayhem. Go forward with Kroak and his scort and stay on the points with your skinks and you summons. Edit. Doing the maths, Blades on Knights are worth if you are targeting the unit with -1 to save and buffing with Starpriest staff. Otherwise, just buffing them with Starpriest and debuffing Warrior's enemy and use the spears.
My proposition with new Kroak : Allegiance: Seraphon - Constellation: Dracothion's Tail Leader : Skink Oracle on Troglodon (220) - General - Command Trait: Ancient Knowledge - Artefact: Godbeast Pendant - Spell: Bind Endless Spell Lord Kroak (430)Spell: Stellar Tempest Skink Priest (70) Saurus Astrolith Bearer (140) Engine of the Gods (260) UNITS 10 x Skinks (60) - Boltspitters & Moonstone Clubs 20 x Skinks (120) - Boltspitters & Moonstone Clubs 5 x Saurus Guard (100) 5 x Chameleon Skinks (90) BEHEMOTHS Dread Saurian (510) TOTAL: 2000/2000 WOUNDS: 119 LEADERS: 5/6 BATTLELINES: 3 (3+) BEHEMOTHS: 3/4 ARTILLERY: 2/4 ARTEFACTS: 1/1 ENDLESS SPELLS: 0/3 ALLIES: 0/400 I was thinking about taking center with the combo EOTG, DREAD & Kroak while the oracle with the skink and Priest take a side and chameleon try to so something on the other one. Do you have any advice with this ?
Allegiance: Seraphon - Constellation: Dracothion's Tail Lord Kroak (430) Slann Starmaster (260) - General - Command Trait: Ancient Knowledge - Spell: Celestial Equilibrium - Ancient Knowledge Spell: Stellar Tempest Skink Oracle on Troglodon (220) - Artefact: Godbeast Pendant - Spell: Bind Endless Spell Saurus Astrolith Bearer (140) Saurus Scar-Veteran on Cold One (110) 20 x Saurus Guard (400) 10 x Saurus Guard (200) 10 x Skinks (60) - Boltspitters Celestite Daggers & Star Bucklers Balewind Vortex (40) Bound Purple Sun of Shyish (60) Chronomantic Cogs (80) Total: 2000 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 0 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 107 My dual Slaan list should be able to easily generate 5d3 summoning points a turn. Using the oracle and skinks as an early capturing force while the two Slaan advance slowly up the board.
That's a lot of saurus guard, I don't know how well that would fare with the new coherency rules with them in 32mm bases. We'll have to wait and see if combat rules change at all
No cause is lost so long as one fool is left to fight for it... ------------------------------------- Allegiance: Seraphon - Constellation: Koatl's Claw Lord Kroak (430) Saurus Sunblood (125) - General - Command Trait: Dominant Predator - Artefact: Eviscerating Blade Skink Starpriest (130) - Spell: Celestial Harmony Skink Starseer (145) - Artefact: Incandescent Rectrices - Spell: Hand of Glory Saurus Astrolith Bearer (150) 5 x Saurus Guard (115) 5 x Saurus Guard (115) 10 x Saurus Knights (220) - Lances 30 x Saurus Warriors (315) - Spears 20 x Saurus Warriors (210) - Spears Chronomantic Cogs (45) Core Battalions: Battle Regiment: Kroak, Astrolith, all troops Command Entourage (extra relic): Sunblood, Starpriest, Starseer Total: 2000 / 2000 Drops: 4 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 130 ---------------------------------------------- This is the best way I can figure to get a decent number of Saurus Warriors going with Kroak. Although I can't help but imagine the Saurus Warriors would be better replaced by at least *some* Eternal Guard or something. Maybe the block of 20 warriors and the Cogs could be replaced by 20 Eternal Guard.
I just can't bring myself to run saurus warriors. I wasn't a fan before and they went up in points which is absurd. I am a fan of the sunblood though, I think they're value went up quite a bit. I'll def try one but I think I'll stick with saurus knights
Fangs List WARLORD BATTALION (extra prayer, the one who gives MW at 6s to hit) Lord Kroak 1 430 Terradon Chief 1 80 Skink Priest 1 80 Skink Starpriest 1 130 Skink Starpriest 1 130 Astrolith Bearer 1 150 Skinks 30 225 Skinks 30 225 Saurus Guard 5 115 Salamanders 1 120 Salamanders 1 120 Terradon Riders 3 115 Cogs 1 45 TOTAL: 1965 The idea is to babysit one unit of Skinks with Priest+Starpriest and the other with one Starpriest. On Hero phase, you give both Stellar Venom and one gets Priest CA. On the Shooting phase, the other unit gets All Out Attack for +1 to hit. Sallys to kill things and Terradons to grab anything along his Chief.
