Been tweaking the 6 salamander list as it’s definitely fun and unique but takes too much away from a balanced setup. Come up with an all comers 2k list that has a bit of everything and with the camo skinks helps deal with cannon crews. Slann, BSB, wandering deliberations, ICI, dispel scroll, skavenpelt banner Oldblood, Armour of Destiny, sword of anti hero’s, luckstone, shield 31 Sauras warriors, spears FC 10 skinks, javelins and shields 10 skinks, javelins and shields 26 Temple guard, full command 6 Chameleon skinks 2 x Salamander hunting packs, additional handler 2 x Salamander hunting packs, additional handler 2000 I’d be interested to hear how people have got on with the temple guard and skaven pelt banner combo, surprised it’s not more wisely used! Also the oldblood kit out has moved away from a 2+ re-rollable 4+ GW to a 1+4+ but the sword of anti hero’s fav! Thoughts and critique? What would you change to make it a better all comers list? thanks
Overall, nice list. My suggestions would be: 1) Drop Skavenpelt banner. It sounds good, but there's nothing saying you keep Frenzy and it just takes one combat resolution to nullify the item. 2) Skip sword of Anti-Heros and go with a GW. It's rare that you're going to have more than one hero/lord character in combat with you. 3) I'd drop one set of Salamanders and use the points you've saved above to get an Ancient Steg on your list. They are the ultimate counter-chargers or combo-chargers, meaning pin down a unit with one of your infantry blocks and then counter-charge the flank with the steg or charge at the same time. Absolutely deadly. Then with the Giant Blowpipes and the 4 skink crew shots you get a lot more poisoned attacks going. Very useful. Not sure what ICI means?
ICI Iron Curse Icon - best 5pt you can spend on a magic item thanks for the advice, I’m a big fan of ancient stegs but it’s then very template…
Ironcurse Icon is brilliant. No question. Also brilliant is the Engine of the God's, with it's 6+ ward save endowment for any unit in 6 inches. Meaning you can do spear saurus for extra rank of attacks and still get ward save. Plus I like having the Steg itself have a ward save. What do you refer to about things getting very template?
Template = predictable, something most opponents would expect to see when playing Lizardman and tailor lists accordingly I.e cannons = dead 250pt stegs Nothing against playing the strongest builds, just enjoy going a little different within the limitations of the book which can be difficult with only three core choices!
Fair enough. I'm a huge fan of unusual and well thought out lists trying out new tactics! Let us know how it goes! When will you be playing?
This I totally understand. Due to various factors, Covid plus schedule predominantly, I haven't been able to play in ages...
