Thank you. I like a lot of games and lots of different ways to play. Sadly too many people I've played with see this game one way and get nasty when you play another way. At thisbpoint I just want to get regular games in period!

Well, yes, to each their own.
However, if you play (knowingly) with unexperienced / uncompetitive players, even if you like a competitive approach, to bring your optimized top tier list is just rude.

I mean to be honest (ignoring the Meta discussion for a second), literally anything from the Monstrous Arcanum book that they didn't get round to would be amazing - I read it recently and the artwork is just :joyful:. Obviously I'd love to see the Khemric Titan as much as the next person, but also the Incarnate Elemental of Death looks insane (and redo the incarnate of fire - the art is amazing but I find the model so bleh).

Seriously I'm disappointed in all of you though! this is a Lizardmen forum and NO ONE is going to ask for a new kind of Scaly friend :turtle:?!? Even ignoring getting an official version of a thunder lizard (which might be a little disappointing - they just seem to be big bastilodons). We could get some kind of giant Avatar of Sotek that Tehenhauin could ride, maybe as a dual kit with a Couatl. We could get an Arcanodon with some new weapon (since the Stegs stole all their EOTG).

We're lizardmen, a giant brachiosaurus with laser eyes is a thing that would literally be supported by the fluff. We have dinosaurs, we have lasers - put the laser on the tallest dino so no one can hide, infallible logic.

Oh or the Chaos dwarf big fire monster, whatever it's called. That would also be cool i guess. :turtle:

EDIT: K'daai Destroyer, that's the one (I'd still rather have the brachiosaurus though)

    Good point.

We should have a dragon equivalent.

Like some kind of Godzilla sized Terradon. Or that huge flying thing from Avatar!!!

Gorilla sized terradon! Would be epic! I still want the khemeric titan but I'm more a TK player so you'll have to forgive me. Uber you make some good points I just fear the over the top nature of the current GW. I don't know if my modeling skills can remove all the skills and doodads they would put on a dinorider

Tomb kings were my first army and tbh I would love to collect one so I’ll let you off. Oh you’re right, any new Dino would be covered in 10,000 bits of junk - all of which would obviously be moulded onto the Dino itself rather than stuck on separately to make our lives as difficult as possible -.-
Oooo that would be amazing, they’re been making some exceptional winged models recently so I’d love to see a version for us

Hahaha... you've entered the "Other Armies Discussion" sub-forum. Here our other (sometimes greater) loyalties are set free for the world to see!!

They did actually start working on it and had and unfinished prototype:

I believe it was then largely altered and elements of it were used to inspire:

That's a shame - GW's decision to turn Fantasy into AoS forced them to scrap the design and use bits of it to make an obscure AoS Bloodthirster character...

But to be fair, if you painted the skin of said Bloodthirster character in fiery colours and shave off all the Khorne symbols, perhaps he'd still work as a K'daai Destroyer!

Also the K'daai prototype looks very much like a Chaos Space Marine Maulerfiend (which I'm sure I've seen as part of some Chaos Dwarf army pictures in the past)...

And though an expensive plastic model at £45, it's still cheaper than any version Forge World could have made!

EDIT: Indeed I posted a pic of a Maulerfiend painted as a K'daai Destroyer and stuck on an Arachnarok base in the 'choose your favourite Dwarf army' thread:

@NIGHTBRINGER I recall you were planning to convert your own K'daai Destroyer from the Stonehorn kit... here's an example I've found online

Probably not the same as the idea you had for yours, but it's proof it can be done ;)

As an extension to this topic, we can look at psychographic player profiles:

    Timmy.JPG Johnny.JPG spike.JPG

Rarely does anybody fall 100% into a single category, but rather they exist in a spectrum of various proportions of each player type.

If I had to estimate, I'd say I'm roughly:
50% Johnny - I love listing building and I'm obsessed with tweaking my lists to the very last point. Finding interesting tactics and combinations is extremely satisfying for me.

40% Spike - I created an entire close combat tournament to find the correct "answers" and the most efficient units! So yeah, I definitely possess an inner Spike . That said, I always create my own list as opposed to fielding someone's "net list", but I do take inspiration from powerful lists and unit discussion/analysis. And then of course there is THIS

10% Timmy - I like the experience, that is something special and unique about Warhammer (as opposed to chess for instance). However... I try to minimize randomness (by refraining from fielding highly random units or armies). As much as I love monster models, they very rarely make it into my lists because they are often sub-optimal and easy points for cannons. A Carnosaur is way cooler than a Cold One, but my Oldblood/Scar-Vet always enters battle on a cold one.

So what about you guys? What ratio best describes you?

I suppose this is not limited to 8th.... anyway, I'd say 70% Johnny

Timmy (big monsters) and Spike (love when i win) share the rest of my soul.

How interesting. Wargaming's answer to MBTI charts or Astrology...

I would describe myself as follows:
40% Timmy - I thoroughly enjoy collecting an army that looks great on the battlefield and in particular looks thematic in relation to the army lore. I like to have at least one monster in each army that is able to access them (who cares if cannons are OP against them? There's nothing like a big monster wrecking stuff when it comes to fantasy) and I predominantly enjoy playing just for the fun of the game. However, I'm not worried if I don't get the big spells when rolling to generate them and I stick to army lists that are coherent with the background.

    50% Johnny
    - I do plan a core strategy that I adapt as the battle goes along, and prefer thematicness to randomness. I often like to use units and strategies that are underused by the majority (for instance in my planned Beastman list I'm going to take one Razorgor chariot, that I plan to kitbash myself, rather than multiple Tuskgor Chariots as a lot of players use), simply because of my curiosity to see if they can work under the right circumstances. If my deviant army list blunders, never mind, better luck and better strategy next time, but if it does work then this is a huge morale boost because I've been able to prove the majority wrong, at least sometimes (as you already know I do like to challenge the majority sometimes). That's the reason why I developed my Monstrous Infantry tourney principally - to see where my favourite units rank and what I can do to make those units that are cool but sorely lacking better.

    10% Spike
    - I still play the game to the best of my abilities and am obviously pleased when I win, but I don't mind at all if my opponent wins, so long as his list is also decently thematic and looks great on the field, and he's a good sport. If, however, the opponent brings an obvious powergamer list and/or displays an aggressive want-to-win attitude, while I won't make a scene at the actual game I will display my contempt by being reluctant to play him again.

    Ooooooooooooh good question!

    I think that I'm 50% Johnny, 40% Timmy and 10% Spike.

I LOOOOOOOOOVE list building. Like really. So much so that the majority of my posts on the Other Armies subsection is about lists and building lists. love the tactics idea behind combining units, synergy, etc.

I would say that I'm 40% Timmy and 10% Spike because I do like to win, but I more enjoy having a good time with my friends when I'm battling.

Plus I play Tomb Kings... They're about as anti-Spike as you can get. Awesome fluff, great models, absolutely mahrlect in fighting.

I might end up adding to the Spike aspect, as there is a little inner voice in me that says "If you make the right list and tactics [Johnny] with army that you love [Timmy] AND you win [bit of Spike entering here] then the victory will be even more sweet as the odds were against you."

I am going to be straight forward and not try to sell myself as a better person than I am.

20% Spike. I like to win and I like seeing well balanced lists. I have a friend who makes random lists with little to no synergy and it annoys me. What's worse is that the dice love him and he's a good player so they work despite the odds against. He's also my favorite person to play against for just that reason.

40% Timmy. I love armies that feel like armies. Lots of troops, characters and war machines! Flying units? Yes! My favorite army is the Dogs of War after all. The spectacle is half the game and I hate seeing an unpainted army.

40% Johnny. I love it when a plan comes together. I play Wood Elves for this reason and had the leadership bomb list for Daemons of Chaos. Any way to win with style and out thinking your opponent over brute force with no plan is my game.
