Ok, so most of us here know that the Daemons army is one of the most unbalanced armies to hit the selves, though the Lizardmen were armed well to hold them at bay. However, one unit of this army codex always thrwarts me. How does everyone here deal with a full Plaguebearer unit with a Herald of Nurgle?! Slime Trail lets us have no bonuses, and they ALWAYS have those ****ing unconditional saves! Not to mention the higher toughness and all the bloody poison. So far, none of my Lizardmen have defeated one of these units. I have only seen one destroyed by a HE spearmen unit with a BSB who has the Battle-Banner, and half his Spearmen died over the course of the 3-4 turn fight. So, strategies? I need help with this!
If you have a Slann its not to hard. Either take Lore of Shadow and spam Pit of Shades on them (they have I1 ) or take Lore of Fire and go for Wall of Fire. A Blade of Realities would also work well (Plague bearers have LD7). Also, if you play Burning Alignment as flaming attacks you could use an EoTG to nuke them.
If someone did that to me, I would choke slam them into the nearest wall. The book does not say that the attacks are flaming. As mentioned, Slann are excellent. Fire and Shadow are both good choices, as is Light (as Burning Gaze and Cleansing Flare are both flaming), unless he has the Sundering Banner. Oldblood with a Blade of Realities in a big unit of Temple Guard iwth the Fear banner could be effective here.
Its called Burning Alignment. Argueing that Burning Alignment is does not cause flaming hits is like argueing that magic weapons can't wound ethereal models (which by RAW is technically correct, nothing in an rule book ever says magic weapons cause magical hits).
That's not quite accurate, WHY exactly the Lizardmen call it burning ailment is not clearly defined enough to say that it's flaming. Also, they took the time to say that the Salamanders fire causes flaming attacks, despite it being called "Sprout Flames", you cannot argue that the name implies flaming when the writers took the time to put it in the Salamander description. Although, after a recently double tournament where every team BUT mine had at least one full Plague unit with Herald, I'd be ok with flaming Engine, even if those damn DP's would laugh at it.
i just have to say argueing over anything in a rulebook with as many mmisprints and whatnot is rather futile in my opinion but for the time i would agree with EotG not being flaming but like i say is tough to be sure about anything in this book
plaguebearers... *shivers* they're horribly powerful and should all die a VERY stabbity death! Anyway I don't use magic too much so I have a hard time with daemons, burning blade of chotec should work... -sv to the herald, if he got a save ofc, and flaming attacks. Regen+flaming=D.E.A.D Random thing Destroy Enforce Absolute Darkness So for me I'd go with the blades, magic user would probably go with lore of fire/shadow/light unless he got the sundering banner... That's were the blades do wonders! No magic+banner of sundering=LOVE!
Although that is tempting, the worse thing about that Herald of Nurgle with the unit is the whole, any model in base-contact with the Herald always strikes last....but that may be only if the enemy unit in question had ASF....I'll have to look that up. I'm pretty sure, though, that it's everyone ASL. Not to mention Slime Trail, which keeps people from getting flank and rear bonuses, makes them SO hard to pop. Right now I think a Saurus Cav unit with a Scar-Vet armed with the flaming sword could shut the Herald down in a fell blow, or at the very least hit him with my Carno Lord's Blade of Realities, no Ward or regen for that fat bastard!
i think your problem is that you seek to destroy them in combat. they are meant for combat , but they are the slowest of all ( M and I). so just ignore them, like i ignore saurus warriors with my wood elves. shoot them, magic them, dance around them, luagh at them. that is what you need to do to kill those plaguebearers.
yes that'd be easy... just if that herald wasn't a wizard ofc, and nurgle magic is MEAN! I'd rather bite him than let him make my lizzie boys get sick...
if you want to beat that unit in combat you need to make the herald irrelevent if you hit a flank then he can't make anyone strike last cause he is not in bsb with anyone also on a different note if you take full comand and a character then the character should be offset enough that he won't be in bsb and if he is then challenge him and make it so that only the character is in bsb can't remember the page but challenge's mean that only the characters involved are affected by their special rules
Now there's a good thought! Well said, sir, definately worth consideration. Personally, my goal now is to charge him with maybe a Temple Guard unit with the Champion wielding the Burning Blade or a Scar-Vet with it and smack him on the head, or maybe try and double Charge something with my Carno Lord, which will gurantee a timely demise for the bloated bastard.
I think that's true, yes. I don't own a rulebook myself, the cheap bastard I am. So I can't check it up.
