So it seems our local tourney will be at 1000p this year, and we've been discussing the different building styles at that level. So how about we show our successful lists in small points meta? I'll start:
Scar vet: dawnstone, ironcurse, dragonhelm, GW, cold one
    Priest, heavens lvl 2
    20 saurus, sword' board
    10 skink skirmishers, javelins
    Bastiladon with solar engine
    5 chameleon skinks
    Stegadon, no extras :(
Lately I've made the priest lvl 1, but added a scroll/dragonbane gem, lost 3 saurus to age the Stegadon to ancient, and polish it's horns. But a good draw and 3 wins/1 loss with that older list was not bad. But HE with lvl 4 in phoenix guard and a Frost phoenix gave me a really hard time. But curse of the midnight wind and harmonic convergence in one turn (lucky) sealed the deal. I'm loathe to lose the lvl 2 now. So what do you build?

The 1000 pt list I have ben using lately is:

Egg chief on ripper, spear, LA, enchanted shield and dragonbane gem.

    2x(13) SkSk with jav/shield
    (10) SkSk with pipes

    Bastillazer
    Rippers
    Terradons

    Ancient Steg sharpened horns

Lots of harassment and some decent hitting power from the chief and the ancient steg. The solar engine is my personal magic preferrence in small games. Generally I tery to stay out of combat; weaken them up some and just combo charge their big unit and hope to win on impact hits and stomps. Killing blow from the rippers does wonders also. You can drop the egg for a BSB; I usually switch to a terradon then and get him a magic weapon.

Hey. That's a different list alright. I don't own rippers, only 2 old terradons. I've been trying to make a similar list, but with a heavens priest, and an extra regular steg in place of fliers. It's good to know it actually holds up.
Wolf_MK, how does the list hold up against flying monsters, or Knights? I find I rely on the steg for that kind of "heavy lifting". I'm a bit curious, as there's usually one nasty, grisly thing in most lists I face, and the saurus character often faces one way to head it of, and steg the other way, to ensure something will get a charge...

This is what I used for my last 1000 point tournament, but part of it was dictated by limited models. If I were to build it again I might drop the cold one cav (they are just so hit an miss; some games they are dead without doing anything and other games they are all stars) and replace them with a basitilidon.

I tend to face a lot of T3 opponents locally (elves, skaven, empire, vampires) so I find the two salamanders to be very useful and draw a lot of enemy fire.

    Lords
Oldblood (on foot in the saurus)
    General
Greatweapon, Dawnstone, Armour of Destiny, Ironcurse Icon (had leftover points)

    Heroes
    Skink Priest (with the skirmishers)
    Level 2, Dispel Scroll

    Core
    Saurus Warriors x 20
    Mus, Standard, hand weapons

    Skink Skirmishers x 10
    Javelin + shield

    Special
    Cold One Cav x 5
    Mus, Standard

    Rare
    Salamander Hunting Pack x 2
    Extra Handlers

Cool. Can't say I'd place an oldblood on foot at this level myself. If I'm investing that heavily in characters, I feel they need to be tactically flexible. And that means being mounted on a wonderful cold one, so I have the option of riding into the sunset alone. Example. Saurus unit got hit with fiery convocation. That was hard going. But next turn the vet charged out the unit, and my opponent then chose to let the spell follow him, rather than the tatters of his unit. Thus he took no damage from the spell (due to dragonhelm) for 2 whole turns, before he let the spell go to cast again. 6 saurus were therefore freed, and did in an archer unit, while Scar vet, still on fire, took care of business elsewhere.
CoC and Bastiladon are almost modular systems of 75ss. Both seem to hold up at this point level, but I'd think the terror/laser beam will make the opponent react more to my moves than a small cav unit will?

The tetto'eko list looks vicious against other infantry, if you don't meet any monsters or knight lists... But redirection/skink fire could keep you safe.

Hmmm: Stegadon or salamanders? Both do admirably against infantry. But steg is reliant on charges, and I feel salamanders can't perform against monstrous anything, really

I'm a big fan of an ancient steg at 1k. If opponents know how deadly it is, they will dance around it, letting you shoot and control the battlefield. If not, you give them a face full of poison darts and/or a nasty charge.

Does anybody have any viable Slan lists at 1k?

I assume that would be with nagash-rules, as a slann is more points naked than you are allowed at 1000pts. But standard staff/harmonic, and then whatever lore you want would work wonders. But that means your opponent will have plenty magically enhanced characters, so an Unfathomable Presence-build would be very much a deathtrap... I mean, expect dragon riders and various flying heroes...

    Challenge accepted!

    Lord:
    Light Slann
    -Channeling Staff
    -Ironcurse Icon
    -Reservoir of Eldritch Energy
    -Harmonic Convergence

    Core:

11 skink skirmishers (x3), two w/ patrol leaders

    Special:

16 Temple Guard w/ Full Command, Gleaming Pendant

    3 Ripperdactyls

    1000 points on the nose.

Basic strategy, as one might assume, is to dominate the magic/CC phase with buffs.

You'll only want to take fights that are on your terms, since the slann is cutting into points that would normally go towards fighty units. This means you'll have to use skinks and the ripperdactyls to control the battlefield. Spells like Birona's Timewarp and Net of Amyntok will help you control the movement phase, while Light of Battle will help keep you low leadership units from fleeing off the table.

Combat will occur ideally in a turn in which you have an magic advantage: Pha's Protection, Speed of Light, and Birona's Timewarp will turn your limited number of temple guard into face-smashing monsters.

Combat has to be fast and brutal. You can't take many wounds, as you don't have a lot of models to work with, so again: you have to pick you battles carefully.

Pick your spells based on your enemy's list. Lots of chaff? pick up one of the magic missiles. Otherwise. look to the augments.

Anyways, that's how I'd build a 1k slann list. I don't know how viable/competitive it is, but it looks kinda fun...

Yeah, it's a fairly limiting challenge, as our frog will need to bring in so much points in the magic phase. Focus of mystery and channel combo would be my kit on him. Arcane unforging, fiery convocation and spellswapping would be crucial in different circumstances.
Or I'd drop reservoir for becalming cogitation, as you don't want to lose your primary unit to a bad dispel! But at this point I'd start really considering lore of undeath. We need more muscle, decayed or not.

Undeath is great at providing shooty support (perfect for the very non shooty vampire counts).

I was thinking of a life slan. Signature is a five plus ward. vine of thrones boosts that to 4++ and the toughness booster goes to +4 making those 15 tg very resilient. if you lose any you have regrowth to bring them back.
