Hi guys, so 2moro i m going into my local GW to play a guy with a goblin army. im pretty new to the game and it will be my first game with my lizardmen so i m looking for a bit of help with tactics and army list. this is what i ve got so far Saurus Old blood on carnosaur + spear + shield 16 saurus warriors, 1 champ, 1 musician, 1 standard bearer 10 x skink skirmishers 10 x skink skirmishers 12 x temple guard ancient stegadon 3 x kroxigor 1 x skink priest (upgraded to lvl 2 ) for 100 points left. any suggestions welcome, thanks guys
was maybe thinking of a changing a skink unit from skirmishers to normal ones and sticking the kroxigor in the unit with them ?
Try to fit a salamander or two in. Flame templates on low leadership low toughness troops forcing break tests rock. I would get two and probally run them solo in case a fanatic hit them.
Umm you can't have an old blood on a carnosaur in 1.5k points, as it's 2k before you get a lord slot, right?
Suggestions 16 man saurus to 15 man saurus squad + spears Take a 2nd priest Rank and file skinks with Krox, it's an idea. On one hand you get the added bonus of the additional CR points. On the other a goblin has a fair chance of downing a skink but not such a chance of downing a Krox so by inclduing the skinks in the Krox combat, should it become drawn out, you are just looking to give your opponent added CR points. Though that is my argument for skink/Krox on any given day. You can't run OB w/ carno at under 2k so suggest Scar-Vet on cold one with upgrades (obviously). You lose a bit of impact but you can still retain that high AS, and it is always possible to retain some of that hitting power based on your choice or armaments. Oh and blowpipes or bow on the steg? I say blowpipies but that's because I love the crazy poison power. Got more character than just shooting a big bow...seems lazy to me...while 2 are operating the bow, where are the rest? Lazy sods... -Eagle-
ahh see im that new to warhammer didnt realise about the carnosaur, well i guess ill do that with a cold one. can i have salamanders in the army ? and ye im going with blowpipes on the stegadon. maybe stick the scar vet on cold one with 4 other cold ones ?
a 5 strong squad of cold one riders is kicking in at near 200 points. I don't know how much the scar vet will cost or how much you will get back by not having the carno so I don't know if you can make the squad of riders with the SV but if you can, by all means go for it but they are not essential, and frankly, not needed. They are good impact units but wont last long in drawn out combat. To be honest, currently you have a solid centre with the saurus blocks. You could always put a scar vet on foot in with one of them, meaning they can use his leadership. Coupled with coldblooded you should have some good staying power. At the same time you have strong flanking units in your steg and krox, not to mention the psychology - Steg = Terror. Your priests should be able to either help with dice-rolling or cause some minor damage to low T goblins and hopefully knocking off a point or 2 of CR before they get into combat by reducing their numbers. At the end of the day, a traditional pincer move should see you through. Your downfall will be being outmanouvered, shot at or mobbed, so deployment here is crucial. I was under the impression, however feel free to correct me, that the ancient steg took up a rare slot. If that is so then you cannot have sallies as well as you have limited rare slots. If you can fit some sallies in, they will be handy against the low leadership and low toughness of the goblins. But on the other hand your stegadon will be just as effective as its charge can cause panic, not to mention the fun fun impact hits against low T troops so sallies are not needed. Hope this helps and let us know how the game goes. Good luck. -Eagle-
Saurus footsoldiers and scar vets both have ld8, so this makes no difference whatsoever, since no stubborn etc, right..?
ok any ideas on magic items i could take ? got 150 pts left to spend now. gota go shortly so any help wud be grateful
One thing I just want to add, is don't under-estimate goblins, they may seem weak on the outside, but don't get cocky and send your saurus head-in unless you have support, between fanatics and nets, I've won tons of combats against far superior combat troops. Wolf riders might be a problem as they can move much faster than anytning lizzies have, but aren't very strong, so keep an eye out on your flanks for them coming through. I believe getting rid of the carno will give enough points for a unit of cold one riders. I think that could be a good move in that it gives some more hitting power, I know if I was facing them with my orc army, it'd make me nervous.... anyway, just my 2 cents.
