EDIT: I need to fit a BSB into this list, as they're important to many scenarios in the tournament. I could make a very survivable BSB out of my Oldblood, but I'd lose him as my General. Advice? I'm planning to join a Warhammer club that a group of friends are starting. We'll be starting at 1,500 points and working our way up from there. I'm not sure what lists this'll go up against, so I'd like to be prepared for anything. Without further ado, here's the list. (1499 Points total) Core Units: 2x 10 Skink Skirmishers - Lustrian Javelins and Shields 25 Saurus Warriors - Standard Bearer - Spears -Musician -Spawn Leader 11 Skink Cohort Special Units: 6 Chameleon Skinks Stegadon -Sharpened Horns Rare Units: 2x Salamander Hunting Packs 168 Points -Snacks Heroes Tetto’Eko -Loremaster Heavens -Eye of the Old Ones -Stellar Staff Skink Priest (Beasts) -Level One -Dispel Scroll Lords: Saurus Oldblood on Cold One -Cold One -Great Weapon -Dawnstone -Armor of Destiny Pretty basic. Saurus form a central anchor, Tetto'Ekko zaps/buffs stuff with Heavens, Skink Priest's got Dispel Scroll for emergencies. Oldblood cowboy runs around and kills stuff. Skinks harass enemy units with waves of darts, Salamanders eat through chaff. Comments/Suggestions/Critiques? I'm a bit of a newbie still, so all advice is welcome!
Re: 1500 Tetto All Comers This is similar to 1500 point lists that I like to run. I like running two groups of 5 chamos for vanguard denial and deployment control, but I like this list quite a bit. So controlling the movement phase is going to be huge for you. Back that up, the DEPLOYMENT phase will be huge for you. Use your scouts to deny the enemy any meaningful vanguard movement of their own and then vanguard your D3 most important units (salamanders for sure). Tetto and the beast priest will always need to be in a position to buff your saurus as soon as they charge or get charged. 25 saurus won't stand up to any prolonged grind, but magic will help out a bit. Use comets to 1) force enemies to move, 2) clear chaff, or 3) create large danger zones. Advice? With an army this mobile, force your opponent to make bad charges and try to only allow combat you can win without magic (lots of people will now take lvl 4 wizards comfortably at 1500, so your magic might get shut down). Flank charges, multi-unit charges. You know, combat the Lizardmen way. Good luck! Let us know how it works out?
Re: 1500 Tetto All Comers Thanks for the advice! I'll see if I can get a battle report up once I try the list out.
What's the best way I can fit a BSB into this list? I'm cutting down the Saurus block to 20, which saves a few points.
Oldblood can't be the BSB. Only scarvet or Skink Chief can be a BSB (or a Slann of course). Maybe make Oldblood a scarvet?
I'd be inclined to ditch the saurus. there's something awesome about a 90% skink army (other than the painting requirements.......) 30 skinks + 3 krox for a tetto bunker? Also, if you need a BSB, drop the oldblood and stick a scarvet on the coldie. that should give you room for a skink bsb?
