    Hi
Has anyone ever tried using really big Skink Cohort blocks with poison? I'm thinking 45+. They could act as a tarpit with deep ranks or do moderate damage to other units because of their poison attacks. Any past experiences or comments about these kind of units?

At 7pts a model that's way too much for a tarpit unit.

With the 9th Age 5+ parry our guys might be decent tarpits, but not with poison. It's not necessary for what a tarpit is supposed to do :)

I totally agree with @Pinktaco with a 5 wide formation you are only looking at 11 attacks with champion, that is only about 2 poison hits per combat and str 3 with no armour mod, just dont think that is worth 90pts (worked out on 45 skinks). So if you want to tarpit try it without poison I'd say

I don't think you should look at the unit as a tarpit then. More points should probably be invested. Maybe go horde formation. Take Skavenpelt banner or something, maybe a couple of Kroxigor to boost Leadership. But at this point i think I would rather take Saurus.

Yea, I'm just looking for something to replace a saurus core in lower points games (2000 and less). And I don't really want to play a Skink Cloud.

If you're looking at a big Skink unit, I would recommend taking a Kroxigor or two. That Ld7 could really save them if they end up outside of General's Inspiring Presence. It would also help them deal with high armour targets. I would also recommend taking 1-2 Skink Priests with Lore of Beasts and take Wyssan's. If in horde formation, it increases their shooting in your own phase, plus Stand & Shoot, and then your close combat attacks.

Plus I guess the Kroxigor give the unit Fear, so now they won't run away if something terror causing comes their way, which is great if they have the poison upgrade, as they are equipped to take on such targets.
