Amidst of thesis writing, wedding planning and binge watching old sit-coms, I managed to paint something. Rainbow Horror Picture Show: http://imgur.com/a/fSfIK A Fresh Flesh Hound: http://imgur.com/a/zsWhK Comments and questions welcome.
::heresy:: Those are really well painted! Nice symbolism with the name too, "Rainbow Horror Picture show"... creepy. Also that second monster is very deadly looking, you made the bloody cuts and scratches on its back look very realistic. Well done!
Rainbow horror picture show! That's hilarious! These guys look incredible. You have really done justice to these models. Great detail. I really like that hound with the crystal base. Just looks so cool.
Thanks, guys! The name came to me as I was painting. My girlfriend was watching Rocky Horror Picture Show. Someone on Reddit made the best comment about that: "Let's do Birona's Timewarp again!" @Warden Glad to hear you like the Flesh Hound cuts, I was a bit worried about how to paint them.
Haha, yeah, I was sorry I couldn't give him more than one upvote. And that AoS and 40k only players don't probably get the joke...
HAY!!! i get that movie reference and i only plan to play AOS or 40k one day... hell my wife and i dressed up as Dr. Frank-N-Furter and the creation ....(i was in the golden speed o) and went to a screening at http://egyptiantheatreoregon.com/ a few years back. it was awesome so many people dressed up and we all sang along....ahhh good times but i digress great models btw's
Referring to Bironas time warp which was a spell from old hammer. And I don’t think it is found in AOS.
1, 2, ok lol now that make it funnier to me as i did not get the reference thought it was a bout the movie 3, well ether way now the song is in my head off to load up the move (wounder if my speedo still fits...)
@Bracnos Yeah, it was a combination joke of both the Timewarp song from the movie and the spell in old WHFB. Pretty clever, in my opinion. Did you know they are making a live remake of Rocky Horror Picture Show? I think it's supposed to come out this (American) Thanksgiving. And a big thank you for all the likes! Imagine my surprise to wake up this morning and see 22 new notifications, almost all of them likes from you! I mean, I'm no Nightbringer, so that is new to me...
Lol thanks ya I now they are making a new vision and kinda like a love letter to the old movie...I just hope it dose not turn out like grease live did that was a train wreck
Some more of my Daemons. A test model for Chaos Space Marines: http://imgur.com/a/2nEMq Et tu Hellbrute: http://imgur.com/a/mJ8CS Princ'ibhaal The Skinner, Daemon Prince of Khorne: http://imgur.com/a/e9UAy Let me know what you think!
They look so awesome with that metallic purple. Really great looking! That daemon prince is amazing! Blown away by all the detail.
Thanks, @Bowser! The Prince is probably the model I'm most proud of at the moment (though still not 100% happy with how the wings turned out... Lots of room for improvement!) and I really took my time with it. Glowing eyes for easy detection of heresy (tm).
They all look fantastic, your best work by far, I love how you have limited the colours to a chosen few, I paint much the same way and find it just helps bring a model to life, I love the eyes on your marine they are perfect, the hellbrute looks like he is at deaths door but sinister and your prince is amazing I love how his skin tone enhances the red of the wings, your not happy with the wings? only thing I can suggest it darkening the edge where the skin meets the bone spines. I think you deserve a
Thank you, @Crowsfoot! I'm glad you like it, your painting style has inspired me a lot and especially with the Prince I tried to emulate your style. Also, I still can't do edge highlighting that well, so this style fits me better. That's actually what I'm not happy with the Prince's wings. I would have liked to edge highlight the holes and grooves on them, but they were hard to reach and so on, so I left them the way they are. I'm painting some Cultists next, so I can practice some more.
Just water down your paint a touch and apply 2 coats if needed, I'm still not brilliant at edge highlights but it really does help keeping the paint thin.
Yeah, the paint consistency is something that I need practice with. It can't be too thick, but not too thin either. Ugh.
