Sorry about the small size of the original phot here. I thought I had it scaled down just enough to make it full screen, but it was shrunk down anyway. I have some closer pictures to try and help with that. This was a 3000 point army that I used last week against a super magic heavy WoC Tzeentch/Slaneesh knights list. I do have battle pictures from the entire fight, which as really interesting! One unit of skink/Kroigor were not part of the game. They were just on the tray for painting after the game.
Yea those are crazy good. How long does it take you to paint like that and how did you develop your style?
that is totally, insanely, INTENSE!!!!!!! i absolutely love the green and red skinks and kroxigor! i also love the engines! camo-skink
dude that purple monster in the back in fierce. whats it got like 50 wounds? aha jk mate, but really your army looks awesome. good work!
The giant creature in the back is Ancient Babo, the most powerful of all the Old Ones He never misses a fight. He is represented on the field by the miniature. Babo has laser beam eyes that can call down the Comet or shoot Uranon's Thuderbolt at will. He became the mascot of the army during the tournament in May when my wife set him down on the table and seconds later the Comet of Cassandora went off at 4 D6 inch range. It was never intended to do so... when it was cast, all I wanted to do was make the opponent use some some dispel idce! Let's just say the High elves went away after that. Ever since, he has been there for every game, even with no mage priest or engines. Babo protects. My army simply does his bidding, for his wise calculations have been contemplated for endless eons. I will put up some more individual shots in the thread here tomorrow or Thursday.
Damn I was gunna make a comment on the mean looking purple monster. Very cool, great to see the whole army ligned up. What is the board thing you have them all sitting on?
The board is a 16 x 24 inch piece of masonite that I use to carry the army around once it is unpacked. I painted a very typical lizardman glyph on it that you see on many of the miniature's bases. It is grey stone, so that it resembles what the army is standing on in the movement trays It is very easy to stick that in my portfolio with other stuff, like blood bowl boards, pallettes, etc. I painted a marble floor for my 40k Demonhunter army on the other side. I'll take a picture of the board and post that here.
Dude, that is awesome... Once again you have made me want to paint my pieces that much more... not to the same effect or talent (not even close) but your work is inspirational
The army looks great wappellious, a lot of creativity. Can you post some close-ups of the terradons and temple-guard? It's quite hard to appreciate your work from so far.
I was wondering if we could get a few close-ups of your terrdadons. I'm curious of the model Composition. Everything is spectacular dude. You must get perfect score for army presentation.
Wapp I used your tip of mixing in some of the GW washes with the thinned layers for blending and just wow, it helps SO much. I was considering getting an acrylic drying retardant to mix in with my water or paints if needed, any suggestions on whether it's useful or not?
I never use anything else with my paints except for water. There is a way to keep paint wet on the pallette that we use. I save the tops of plastic milk jugs and other such things, spray a bit of water in them, and then turn them upside down over the paint. This little dome acts as a humidore, and helps the paint stay wet for a while. I believe I have a thread about my alternate terradon figs in the painting area here, with larger images. More will be posted of my scratch built terries, which I am really liking a lot!
Holy moly that's easily the best looking lizardman army I've ever laid eyes on. One question, how did you do that alternate universe thing for your engine of the Gods?
Thanks for the kind words on the army! I have a thread about the Engines in the painting section of the site. It shows some pictures of the stegadons and howdahs before they were painted. I spent many years painting 2D paintings, such as spacescapes, so it was very fun to paint some miniature ones on the engines!
Excellent work! I've just spent some time looking at your work on CMON and on here and I'm really impressed. Consider me inspired! How log do you spend on a rank and file model? The overall standard is excellent and i'm trying to up my game with my own lizards
wappellious I am more intrested in you basing and movement trays. How long did it take you? If you could message me let me know how I can get it done I would appreciate it so much.
I also have a thread about the movement trays and the bases. You can PM me with your e-mail if you would like a simple PDF that gives tips on how to do the bases. The movement trays were made in a similar manner to the bases, using the baked sculpey and gravel. They were magnetized with refrigerator magnets, which work very nicely.
wappellious: Can you post close-ups of your terradons? I would like to see them. I know you have a thread on your two chiefs but you don't have one on the normal skink riders. Thanks.
I have 2 games coming up tomorrow night for testing my core competency army, so it will probably be Thursday before I can take close up pictures, etc. Here is the thread I mentioned about the regular skinks and the movement trays... http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/magnetized-movement-trays-for-skink-cohorts.1982/
