Hi guys, I'm new to the forum but decided to share something I've been working on lately. So I thought my Seraphon army needed a big beastie (Dread Saurian) but was appalled at the gigantic rat like miniature forge world made and the enormous price tag so I started to get creative and came up with this so far. It's based around a Papo Tyrannosaurus (Cost $50) and I have been scratch building the armour from an empty hommus container haha. I'm an architect so the armour had to make sense and work and I'm pretty happy with the result so far. Reason for this post is if anyone is interested in making one I can start to share the process of doing this and hopefully help some of you guys get a Dread Saurian
Which base (mm x mm) has been placed under him? Does the Dread Saurian have an official size base (what did it have for 8th)? And, Yes..., there is something disturbingly rat-like about the FW DS.
I've made a base out of marine ply same dimensions as I thing the 40k Inperial Knight (170x105). I found that was the conclusion someone else found as the most relevant base for him in AOS. I'm attaching an image of the scale of the model next to a carnosaur.
Nice project... impressive indeed! Recently found a similar impressive model of a feathered raptor that would make a nice carnosaur... couldn't afford the 16€ cause I had to buy ice cream for the kids and the shop won't take ec but cash only...
That's rad! Post a pic up when you get it More pics to come soon folks, I'm going to start painting tonight
There are several nice-looking T-Rex models out there that would be suitable. Tamiya also has one that is pretty cool. (the newer one. The older one is rather meh). About the armor... Can't tell if I like it yet, the shape looks promising though! Can't wait to see it painted. About the base: I think going for the biggest GW base size (170mm oval) is the best choice.
Every time I see that picture my brain initially thinks that the brushes are mounted to its neck and tail.
