Hello all, I have my first meeting engagement coming up this week with Seraphon and was hoping to get some input on the following list: 990 Points Coalesced Constellation: Thunder Lizard Spearhead: Lord Kroak - 320pts Spell: Stellar Tempest (5) Saurus Guard - 100pts Main Body: Skink Starpriest - 120pts Spell: Celestial Harmony (5) Saurus Guard - 100pts Bastiladon - 220pts Ark of Sotek Rearguard: (1) Salamander Hunting Pack - 80pts 1 Command Point **Updated slightly, noticed I had Salamander points off
From my experience, Bastiladon (especially Ark of Sotek variant) are not playing very well in ME (they were before new tome, but now they're just very fragile - just 2 MW away from being fractured). I would drop him and choose instead Saurus Warriors or Saurus Knights (10 would be perfect). 10 SG would be good to - they will protect your Kroak while he trowing his stuff. Salamanders are beasts right now, so consider bringing 2 of them (you can split them in 2 and use teleport). Regarding Thunderlizard - I don't know if I would choose that Constellation for only 1 monster You do not need celestial harmony for this list, you can spend CP (and with Kroak you will have lots of them). Here, take a look at this list. Hand of Glory is instant pick for skinks (re-roll hit rolls of 1), MoSR is +1 to casting (you may pick nimble +1 save and move) and Godbeast - revive on 4+. Salamanders in Spearhead (you can teleport them if you want or stick right with your Kroak to support him), 10 Knights as damage dealers (buff them with Starpriest) in Main and Salamanders in Rear. Pretty simple, but it could work.
you would be better off not using the thunder lizard... your list doesn't have any synergies with it. the CA cant be usd on the Ark, and the +2 wounds would only affect a single unit, the basti… while you avoid the mandatory trait by not having a mounted hero... it also makes it even more a reason to just drop TL and take the artefact you want instead of the fusil
I would either consider starborne or some fast moving units for the spearhead. You have to reach at least one objective turn 1 with your spearhead units if you want to be competetive. (Kroak will hopefully provide the slain model with comet call, just remember to target something with 1 health if possible.) I tried to do an overview for ME some time ago. It is partyl outdated due to the new GHB, the Kroak competetive list is up to date and still really strong. (You can put as much in your spearhead as possible without beeing punished now.) http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/meeting-engagement-tactics.24589/#post-324757 @Dreamkeeper I'm not sure if he can fit all the bases on every Battleplan. 10 Knights gave me some trouble a while ago.
Awesome guys thanks for the input. First game of AoS in quite sometime. I didn't realize CA couldn't be used on the ark so that kills that plan haha.
Dreamkeeper I really like that list, one thing aren’t Salamanders considered artillery? They show up as that in my Azyr app.
You could choose kroak as general and would still dominante the magic phase. In that case you would usualle get enough ccp to summon 10 Knights turn 3 for a suprising charge or objective block. I am not sure why you take the other 5 guard what are you planning to do with them?
Good to know, hopefully they get their app squared away with some of those units that are off. Honestly with the other 5 guard I was just looking to fill the battle line portion with a cheap unit that wasn't terrible haha. I was hoping to utilize double tapping the Bastiladon and winning off the back of magic with the original list. But then it was pointed out that he's not able to do that which pretty much killed the whole premise.
For 100 you can add 10 saurus warriors with clubs (90pts) and add them in maybe rearguard. As Bartuk correctly says, you might have trouble fitting 10 knights and 10 SW (32 mm base). So consider that. But overall, guards are playing somewhat good in ME. I usually pick 5-10 of them. I remember, before new battletome, my 10 SG under Eternity Warden hold point for 3 rounds. Damn they were good...
Yes! And knights can reach objectives way faster. (You can go even more top heavy if you want and put the second Salamander also into the spearhead.)
Wish I had more knights but only have 5 unfortunately, you think it's worth moving the 5 knights to the main body or spearhead?
Look at your battleplans. If in every one of them you start with Spearhead, so you might wanna have fast objective grabber turn 1
We are randomizing out of the GHB 2020 so there's an outside shot that the spearhead won't be starting although odds are they will. I think I'll swap the 5 knights in the rearguard and the 5 guard in the spearhead.
