I started playing Warhammer in 2nd Edition, in my buddy's basement with Ral Partha figures and not much of an idea what we were doing. I kept it up through 3rd and 4th, skipped 5, played a lot of 6th and 7th, and then dropped it due to a lack of opponents. I wasn't playing when they blowed up the world so I missed the first part of Age of Sigmar. Recently, my son got to be old enough to play these sorts of games and to ask questions about all the models I have on the shelf. We tried out the current AoS ruleset and I was pleasantly surprised. He didn't mind my Goblins or Chaos or Empire (Cities, that is) but pretty soon he wanted his own force. He likes sharks and thinks skeletons are cool but his two favourite things are dinosaurs and astronomy so you can see where this is going. I am rebasing and repainting my old armies and I'll post those here as I go, but to start with, here's the first thing he finished from the Start Collecting Seraphon box he got for his 8th birthday.
My Gloomspite Gitz. I had a pile of Orcs & Goblins, but I mostly liked the night goblins anyway, so the new faction realignment suits me fine (despite the big box of old greenskins I no longer require). Boingrotz Bounders Yeah, that's what a squig looks like, why? What do yours look like? Loonboss Madcap Shaman Shootas Loonboss on a giant squig, with a leering gitshield Everything I have painted to date (so, so many more to go ....)
Been a while since I updated here but a few new things on the project table. My son has been working his way through his Saurus warriors and knights. Hopefully the last few will get finished up shortly so I can post them here. He also built himself a Stegadon and I magnetized it for him. I had to bash up a front-piece to attach the flamers to, as there was no way I could magnetize them to the frame. On my own workbench, I've been working on a Chaos Warshrine. I am not a fan of the stock model. The concept for this was a giant chaos beast tethered to a floating Chaos runestone, to which a priest has attached a platform, to better invoke the wrath of the guy on the thing. Pretty pleased with where it is so far. Also, just for fun, I painted up an ork. I have a bunch of these from an old Warhammer army but I am resisting the urge to do too much with them yet -- I still have Cities and Chaos armies to get finished first.
Great work with the magnets. That warshrine design is fantastic, can't wait to see it painted. Really like the weathered metal on the orc weapons too! Keep up the good work
What an awesone Warshrine!! I also like your solution for the flame throwers as well, genius!!! I might steal this idea Grrr, Imrahil
