    All Warmachines have stat lines and warscrolls as well. There are a few that are combined such as a Celestar Ballista, but you remove all the models upon the units death and they all have to maintain cohesion. Other units such as Razordons and Skink Handlers are seperate from the crew and the war machine itself and have distinct war-scrolls for each. For example the Cannon has a table that determines how far it can move and how many times it can fire based on the crew near it, but it is a distinct warscroll apart from the crew who also have their own warscroll despite them being jointly deployed and costed.

    Not quite. It could be a neutral model in the same manner as terrain.

    Ah thought they were seperate in so much that the crew could potentially run away from the machine itself and the machine wouldn't have its own warscroll, all it's abilities would be detailed on the crews scroll.

    I prefer the terradons, because when you run Shadowstrike they'll almost always wipe whatever you drop it next to, or if not, whatever you sic them on first. Drop the boulders, hit 'em with the sunleech bolas, and then clean up any remnants with melee.

    The rippers, however have kind of been nerfed with the new errata, as the additional attacks spawned can't spawn additional attacks unto themselves, meaning a max of six if they're near a blot toad. I wouldn't be willing to pay 140 points for them anymore.

    that's not actually right. they got changed from hit until you miss, but we wont let you roll more than one in AOS 1.0 to holy shit unlimited attacks in AOS 2.0 and then into their current form in AOS 2.1 (post FAQ) which has you roll a d3 for every successful hit and roll that many wounds. this means a single ripper could do (if its not the alpha) 1 spear attack, 3 claw attacks and 3 beak attacks (near toad) resulting in a maximum of 13 wounds (9 of which are beak attacks). 140 points for a maximum of 39 wounds a turn is absolutely worth 140 points, especially since you are mostly hitting and wounding on 3's and rerolling all hits and misses during your turn.

    that's totally cool to have a preference... I just didn't want you to be basing the choice on what to field on information that would have left the rips gimped all to hell.

    Hello fellow lizards. It's 2021 and I just recieved a pack of 3 flying birds/lizards. The questions is, which is better now in 2021?

    Firstly, I've planned a saurus army, but now I'm wondering if I should invest in the shadowstrike batalion?

    ATM Terradons are better by a mile. Ripperdactyls were used to be a fantastic glass cannon, but now they are underwhelming.

    Shadoswtrike can be a good battalion, but i would suggest to begin with something you like. Saurus armies and aerial strikes are two different kind of play. How would you like to develope your army? how are you fine in moving lots of models?

    I've build a SC seraphon, so the plan was to go in big dinos. Few models, not hordes.

    I also own now, a lord Kroak and an Engine of the gods. In total I have 15 saurus knight so combined with a scarvet+carno I got the batalion. The next step was to add units to create the thunder batalion.

    Im playing just with friends so no competitive matches. I won't be able to always play a 2k point match so I'm very open for variation builds but more focused on saurus. Skinks and hordes are not my thing. I have a death army with lots of skellies :p

    You definitely have the start of a decent friendly game army, I would suggest if you want to make a TL battalion that you invest in 1 or 2 Bastilodons, (making them solar arrays) and a kroxigor unit or salamander unit (your preference, if you like the bigger and fewer models the Krox are the choice for your)

    Unfortunately, even our saurus are designed kind of swarmy, so there is no real way to avoid a swarm army that would be effective for competition, but for your friendly tabletop games, you can get by with the Knights as your battleline.
