8th Ed. Tomb Kings Battle Reports

Ha!

Well, now I'll start counting. No holds barred now! I'm going for the kill!

So my wife and I did another battle last night...



I had two units of Skeleton Archers, one unit of 30 Skeletons, 8 Ushabti, 3 Sepulchral Stalkers and a Liche Priest.

She had two units of Skinks Skirmishers, 3 Krox, 20 Saurus, Skink Priest and a Slann.

My first turn I didn't do anything apart from shoot, killed a couple of skinks. Magic was uneventful, but I got off the protection spell on the Ushabti just in case the Skinks went after them.

Her first turn the Skinks rushed forwards and she did some more ridiculous rolling (I swear that the Ninja training camp she has established is top notch). She chose to keep her other troops back (our agreement is she wants to be fully in control of what she does with no pointers, unless it is something illegal or REALLY bad).

So my turn two, I chose a spot this time that would DEFINITELY NOT PUT THE STALKERS OFF THE TABLE.

That's right. I WAS CAREFUL THIS TIME. No more losing the Stalker unit because of some naff dice roll...



ARE YOU FLIPPING KIDDING ME?!?!?!?!

Needless to say I was a little miffed, but thankfully I rolled a 5 on the mishap table and they arrived on the right flank where I put them right next to the Saurus (rubs hands together)...



The killed off 7 Saurus in their first gaze-volley thing.

 

Her third turn she turned her Saurus around to be able to charge the Stalkers the next turn, moved up the Krox and shot again with the Skinks killing some more Skeletons.



Long story short, the Stalkers killed all bar 3 of the Saurus with their next shooting attack, the Ushabti made mincemeat of the Kroxigor and the Skeletons charged the Skinks only barely managing to win the combat.



We ended the game at this point as it was pretty much a foregone conclusion from this point on.

An overwhleming victory for the Tomb Kings!

Congrats on the win! The honour of the Tomb Kings has been restored.

Your wife's army was always going to have problems with that large group Ushabti! What lore of magic was her Slann using?


Those Stalkers were really hanging off of that table ledge. Tsk tsk tsk

 

She chose Light. Could have worked, especially as she would have gotten an extra D6 hits on the Tomb Kings.



We'll go over points from it as learning exercise.

Doing it gradually and hoping she gets bitten by the WFB bug!

Hmmmmm...... yes, I'm 75 points over my special allowance... should have had 2 less ushabti.... wouldn't have changed the outcome though.

 

Having a Slann and a Skink Priest in a 1000 point game is too many points sunk into magic in my opinion. It ate up too much of your wife's army and didn't leave room from much else.

 

An accident I assure you...

I know, we went over it after. She wants to organically learn herself rather than get instructed the whole way so that she can make it her own.

Plus she is seriously intelligent so I think she'll come up with tactics eventually that I haven't thought of

As much as I'd like to watch the match, I don't find it nearly as fun watching others play.

Still great to see the Chaos Dwarves against the Tomb Kings! Two legends do battle!
