    Another introduction!

Got back into wargaming after about 20 years, played and painted mostly 40k and a bit of the games workshop LOTR stuff when I was a kid, then stopped when I was around 11 or 12. A few years ago I read Kieron Gillen's 'hipsterhammer' blog posts which sparked my interest again, and finally needing something to distract me from the pandemic pushed me to get back into it.

I'd always been fascinated by Lizardmen when I was a kid so decided this was the time. My first attempt was a box of skinks, pictured below. It's my first time painting in 20 years so really keen for any constructive feedback people can offer. I came up with a colour scheme kinda based on gila lizards. I really enjoyed doing this and have been given a start collecting box as a gift so with the Saurus warriors in there I'm trying to learn some slightly more advanced things like highlighting, better bases etc. Will try to post some pictures of those in the painting threads if I'm feeling brave.

One of the other things that made me want to collect lizards was the consensus online that they have an active and welcoming fanbase. Everyone has posted such great work on here and I'm really excited to talk more to you all. Anyway, here are my skinks!

    Welcome (back) to Jurassic Park!

Always great to have one of the Old Ones rejoin us.

Make sure you have a really good look around the website. Especially in the painting section (although your painting already looks pretty good!)

    Enjoy!

    Welcome along!

Good to see that we (colectively) are talked positive about ;)

Your colorscheme looks great, Gila lizards are awesome! What paint are you using? Contrast or normal?

Please don't be to shy to start a painting blog. It is not about showing off but to share your hobby joy with others. Also to ask for help if you have problems or doubts. And I have found it a very good motivator to finish some models so I could share it with others.

    Have fun around
And keep up the good work.

    Grrr, Imrahil

Thanks so much! I went for normal paint. I saw a lot of stuff that people were doing with contrast paints and it looked really cool, but I like making the scales on the miniatures more uneven, so some yellow and some black instead of all yellow as I found in my research that this is how a lot of IRL lizard's markings are, and I like that look, and apparently it's sometimes trickier to do precision stuff like that with contrast paints. The picture posted here doesn't show it too well, haha, but I'll do a painting blog like you suggested and post more about it there.
