And finally some painting slowly working on my Itzl themed Skinks which will be used for this Character model + my Dinosaur riding skinks Slowly working up to an amber on the back scales
Where we ended for the night! I really love the direction, gonna see how I feel in the morning but I think ive hit the Amber color. Definitely airing on the orange side Id say
That is quite a packed howda, how are you planning on getting even more in/up there? The picture shows Amargaddon on it behind legs. Will he be on all four eventually? (I preferred that position ) Grrr, Imrahil
This is awesome, they look very good together. I like that you kept the skin color the same and differentiated with the Scales (somewhat coherency in colors) Grrr, Imrahil
Behind the chair/throne there is surprisingly 2 open spots for skinks lol dont ask me how. But there is haha. It would probably be too packed if I did it, so I probably won't end up doing it. I don't really want the chair, but i also don't want to outright glue the chief onto the howdah either, so... lol here I am. As for the pose, I am honestly still 50/50 split on it. I live both poses for different reasons. The one benefit to it being on it's hind legs is to level the howdah, but i also like the more Stego defense posture that it has when on all 4s, so. The Amargadon is a quadreped that can limitedly walk bipedel as well, so lore wise both work. So, the answer is, I'm not sure yet lol i keep going back and forth depending on the day, hour, minute. Thank you! Yes, keeping the skin color consistent was pretty important to me as I love the recipe ive come up with for it. The backscales are just super easy to customize. I do live how they look, question is... do i keep the scheme for my many unbuilt Saurus?
Ha, thank you. Im surprised my ADHD has allowed me to stay focused for this long lol painting skinks is surprisingly calming... and semi quick! Which is nice since i do every model individually and dont batch paint. Its quite an easy recipe so far! Once im done I'll share it if you'd like!
Thank you! I too am digging it, coming out real well. Primed 5 more like him for a custom Renown unit of elite skinks/handlers
Hey everyone! How is everyone? It's pretty rainy here and a lot of cleaning around the house and such, but I've also managed a bit if painting. Most of my time has been spent on the Amargadon, if I'm honest. I've gotten a lot of scale work done and a first wash and now I'm beginning the layer process! The wash leaves the original pink a bit purple (as with my skinks) and now im slowly adding pink back on while leaving a small purple hue behind. You can see in the pictures how the back specifically was very pink but then looks a bit more purple in the next. The face shot is showing the process of layering, which im pretty stoked about. The most exciting news, to me, is that Jess (my partner of nearky 10 years) began painting with me last night! She really likes skinks so we began a skink together teaching her basic painting things and also my more unconventional techniques. It was a lot of fun, most importantly for her. I've been wanting to get her to paint with me for over 2 years now (we bought miniatures at the same time when I started) and she's finally getting back into it! Hoping we can finish our skinks soon, but she is pretty busy. Her skink is going to have the same Turquoise base skin, but i think she's going to add some blues or such into the scales/face possibly, we shall see! More skinks from me are coming as I am working on them in the background, but the Amargadon has indeed taken the spot light. I am also in the background working on my Hippogryph and hoping to share some progress on that soon also Lots of projects going on, also check out my stories in the fluff section as I'll be adding to those in time also. Specifically thr Short Story: Return of the Feathered Serpent (link: https://www.lustria-online.com/threads/an-aos-story-return-of-the-feathered-serpent.25725/) Leaning hard into my Seraphon again
Not sure how well you can see, but more highlights/layers done on the mid section scales, specifically the darker ones. Thinking of maybe a Temple Guard Blue or something for highlights on the underbelly and such, maybe.
Here is a better look at the layer work on the head/neck areas. Love how the three layer of pink hues play together and with the other colors around them
Wow, marvelous! I love the fact you singled out each of the scales, what a work The skin color is still amazing, a good base to stand out with the scales, horns, jewelry, etc. I see coherency over more than one type of model that makes me so happy, lol The contrast of the skull is so outstanding, I like it. Will you keep it this white? or will it be more shaded? At the moment I have a very high Hollow (Bleach) feeling with it, and I like that Grrr, Imrahil
Love how the scales look on your latest dino-build! The colors you picked work really well, I like the pink scales over the blue, and the white looks great too. Don't know what that creepy thing is but I think it's color scheme could work form @Sudsinabucket 's dino, I like the aqua-green route for his legs.
Thank you so much man! A lot of love in this post and it is appreciated! Working hard on this kitbash for sure Doing the scales 1 by 1 is definitely a journey, but it's becoming so worth it the more I go. A bit worried about the tail as the "scales" aren't really detailed, but I think it still should look ok. I absolutely love the skin color too though, i am debating adding some Temple Blue Highlights on the chin... but otherwise I may just leave it. As for the white parts, especially the head. The plan is to Highlight it with Pallid Wych Flesh and then do a wash of Apothecary white and then a final watered down Rakarth Flesh. So in the end i am hoping for around the same but a richer & deeper color. Some coherency is definitely on the horizon! Some... lol
The Burrow Wurm is finished and I am so happy with it! The colors really came out well with this one, using a darker blue-grey for the top and pinks foe rhe mid/bottom + legs. It really comes together with the base I think, the bright greena really contrast well with the model. I really wanted to show a peaceful field being thrown into dismay as this giant Wurm breaches the soil. Such a fun model to paint. The waracroll is still WIP but I wanted to show it to give an idea of the direction. Some rewording and a few other tweaks are coming. 350 Points.
