That sounds awesome, and I would have loved to have had one of these as a kiddo.

Alas, I'm not really a cake person any more. I'll occasionally indulge in a Victoria Sponge... but that's it as far as my cake tastes go. Don't care for icing, don't care for fancy flavourings, just give me the viccy sponge. :p

Anyway, back on topic... was she the one who voted just now? Or is that particular entry about to get yet another vote *suspicious squint*

Edit: Ah, you posted while I was writing my post. Ignore the question, for the answer is already known!

Ah, yes... @Killer Angel; aka "The Contest has Entered Hard Mode". I do wonder whether my victory in the previous contest was purely because Hard Mode wasn't activated. ¬_¬

Not to discount all the others who put in their entries... but the number of wins to @Killer Angel's name speaks for itself.

If @Killer Angel is the author of your vote, his record seems on track to continue.

@Killer Angel is the undisputed G.O.A.T. of the Lustria Online Short Story contest. Statistically undeniable. And if that wasn't enough, English isn't even his primary language. He is winning these contests with his dominant hand tied behind his back.

No doubt. You've built up a massive lead. It would be a very long time before anyone could rise to challenge for your crown.

It's looking good... but let's not celebrate before we cross the finish line. Stranger things have happened.

Not to worry, almost everyone has dropped the ball in terms of reviews. Only @J.Logan has turned one in?

    Hereby my reviews:

A very interesting story. A bureaucratic piece about conforming to the system is easier and better for your own carrier. The protagonist tries to do the good thing, but gets pressed back into his place. Trying to be the good person isn’t always rewarding. In contrast to the fourth story there is room to learn from the ‘mistake’ and choose conformity.

A very interesting piece. A gathering of ideas for a story, but not quite a story in itself. I loved some of the ideas. Especially the drug addicted Slann. My attention was grabbed by just a few lines about this idea, really worth a story of its own.

Featuring Nightbringer’s story idea suggests it is not written by him, but could it be a double bluff?

A very interesting piece. A great idea and very unique. It looks somewhat like the inner struggle of the author about his own story. Perfectly executed and well thought out. I really liked the style and the crisis the author found himself in. Well written.

A very interesting story. Classic Lizardmen hierarchy driven set up. A lovely Skink stepped outside of the lined path. The ‘this is how we have always done it’ motto is a creepy one that is held up by a lot of people and companies. Treading outside of the given path, even to grasp for better results is often frowned upon. The lecture given by the Slann sparks a bit of hope for the protagonist, but in the end there is no lesson to be learnt by the Skink…

Also suggested by the fact that:
    1. the NIGHTBRINGER has never entered a short story into a contest
    2. the NIGHTBRINGER's Slaaneshi vanity would never allow himself to refer to himself with the usage of only a single capitalized letter, "the Nightbringer", as presented in the story

How convenient an excuse to use to claim it not you that wrote it. Hmmm...!?

Unless, again, you are playing the long con, in which case, doing the written equivalent of screaming out your name as if you are actually Mojo Jojo would be quite the giveaway.

And thanks to that comment, I am now just picturing you as a green monkey tapping on a keyboard, ranting and screaming your name at random points.

Come now, surely if I had entered a story in the contest it would have featured the Chaos Dwarfs much more heavily. They would have been front and center. The stars of the show.

    !.gif !.gif !.gif !.gif !.gif

Besides, I really don't know why, but me entering a story in the contest would somehow feel like I picked up a loss against @Scalenex . That somehow his will was greater than mine. I can't fully describe why I feel this way, but there it is. And the NIGHTBRINGER don't like losing!
