I saw the "Black Box" of the new models today at my GW. OMG! They get a War Sphinx and new Snake/Naga calvary. Just those two models with all the associated bits made me drool.... Looks like they took a great deal of effort to get things to look threatening , dangerous and cool rather the cartoon like and goofy. Kaax Taat
Amazing... Bits from the GW website: Skeletons are now 4 points a model... The chariots do d6 impact hits each, with +1 strength for each chariot ranked up behind... The Sphinx is T8 (!) with something called "thundercrush" attack for killing infantry... Necrosphinx has heroic killing blow... Ground burrowing serpent things have some sort of ranged attack that rolls to wound vs your initiative... Holy cow.
The sphinx is even nicer than I thought it would be. And it's doubly nice in that I wasn't expecting it to be a kit that you could use to make one of two different models. I think a friend of mine will be happy with the Tomb Kings, even if they don't let him build Queen Khalida's army this edition.
Sphinx's have 5 wounds each. The "Thundercrush" ability allows only the Warsphinx to drop the small template on a unit instead of his normal 5 Str5 attacks. Then he Thunderstomps. Now THAT, is freaking insane, but the Skaven are sweating bullets when they see this sucker! Necrosphinx has 4 Str5 attacks and 1 Str10 attack with Heroic Killing blow. Not to mention he flies...these guys are going to be a bitch to deal with. Looking forward to fighting my share of these Undead though!
The Necrosphinx looks just as nice in real life too. And they were working on some Sepulchral Stalkers when I stopped in too, which also look pretty sharp. Though until I saw the models I hadn't realized they were on big monster bases (I thought they were on Slann sized ones). My local store doesn't have an Army Book though, so we don't really known anything right now.
