I feel like I've waited all my life for this! Well... maybe a few months.

Ever since I bought the battalion and started my attempts to assemble and play Cold One Cavalry competitively, I've envied the fiercer-looking, smarter-looking and awesomer-looking Dark Elf Cold Ones. I thought about maybe doing the conversions, but no more! GW just put up Cold Ones in resin, unridden, for advance order.

I can't wait till mine comes in. Gonna use it for my Oldblood, and maybe just buy enough to replace all the mounts for my COC.

Was anyone else as excited as I?

At the price they are charging I am not excited at all, basically the same sculpt as DE cold ones, by a box, get 5 Cold Ones and save yourself a bundle.

hmmm, good point. I just didn't want to deal with any dark elf/lizardmen splicing.

I've said it before but I'm never one to miss an opportunity for a good moan: Ten. Pounds. Per. Cold. One... What. The. #@!&? Are they out of their minds? You have to spend FIFTY POUNDS for a unit which has the same survivability as five Saurus Warriors! What were they THINKING? £50 for five S4 attacks. And obviously they come with no riders so if you want to use them to make Saurus Cavalry, you have to buy those as well, making the unit even more expensive than Blood Knights. WHY did they do them in finecast?

As I stated in a few other threads, you don't even need to buy an entire box of DE cold one riders. Just buy the mounts from a Bitz seller on Ebay.

On the topic at hand, its $16.50 (USD) for one of those terrible things and I hope they don't sell any of them. I understood when i got into this game that it is considered an expensive hobby, but they really seem to be losing their minds.

I for one am happy my army doesn't need expanding.

edit: after re-reading your original post, are you sure you don't work for GW cause that really read like a terrible comical for how wonderful their new product is...or isn't.

It did read a little commercially. I have no need for any more cold ones as I have gotten a total of about 18 from different auctions on ebay. 10 of those did not come with riders. I have 4 or 5 that do not have riders. Sure, I have the old plastic (dumb looking) ones, but they will do.

Haha, I can assure you all that I don't work for GW. I guess I'm the easily excitable sort. Perhaps this kind of thing reflects what captures me about the game of Warhammer. I don't mind spending a little extra on units because I don't intend to ever collect too many. For me, the final look of the model is what counts!
Sorry, if the original post came off as an ad! Like I said, guess I was just excited to see a new release that could really work for Lizards.
This is sort of changing the subject, but has anyone had much luck in converting COC to ride the DE cold ones? I'll be skimming this forum for images, for sure.

Their stats and rules are the same as the LM ones, and are also the same as the lone, stupidly expensive new model, which is just a cold one by itself, without a saddle.

Mister Blak, you may be the only person I've ever met who says they like the Lizardmen Cold One model. Yay for uniqueness! Personally, I think they only succeeded in capturing the rule Stupidity in physical form.

And I've always called them Cold One Cavalry, as the name Knights suggests to my mind full plate armor and such. Each to his own, I guess.

Yeah $28 Aus a piece for cold ones is.... Well, how the f*ck do they expect to sell that?!?!? A pack of 5 of them for $28-$30 I could see, would be ok, but for just one? GW is insane and only getting worse and worse. Its like they are just joking around; 'Hey lets set the price at this surely NOBODY will pay that. Hey look, preorders! HAHAHAHA'.

Actually this has always been the biggest obstacle whenever I try to enlist friends, co-workers or acquaintances as potential Warhammer players: the sheer cost. Maybe GW will just crack someday and it'll all sell for dirt cheap...

And maybe the Old Ones will return too, while I'm dreaming... :D

Looking at their current prices, I wouldn't start playing today, nor would I recommend anyone to start. Its a complete joke. There are other companies producing other games that have quality models at far more reasonable prices.

The Dark Elves have knights, since they have armor and lances
Saurus are calvery, since they are lightly armored (scaley skin doesn't count) and they cary spears.

I don't think the cold ones in finecast where ment as mounts but as storm of magic monsters.
but as far as prices go they may be a expense but thats life

You're not the only one Mister, they're the main reason i started collecting Lizzies in the first place. :D I think the DE ones look a bit manky tbh.
Lizardmen Cold One Cavalry, Dark Elf Cold One Knights (due to the armour thing Axaton & n810 mentioned)

I like the lizardmen cold ones... as alternate models for my salamanders. When I make my sallys I use the cold one head that looks like a champion with a mask.

As for the new cold one finecast, I am at a loss for words, why would they release something that they know can be easily found in plastic for much cheaper? I guess they will catch those people who do not want to buy cold ones in bulk, and I know that ebay is now a lot less reliable after GW cut off most online distributers.
