    hey guys,

is the slann's base supposed to have a hole for the transparent stick to be put in?

'cos this is my first one and It comes with a 40/50mm base but is a full solid piece so i got confused.

    thanks!

Yes, it's always like that, just poke a hole in it wherever you want. Be careful not to make it too big though.

Use a pin vise/dremel with a drill bit on it. Or use an exacto knife and once you penetrate the base, start rotating it slowly.

Be careful, take your time! I would reinforce it with a small bit of green stuff around the bottom of it where the stand touches the base, and just do some basing work to cover it.

    woah..

    dont have those tools unfortunately.

do you think if I have a thick base of sand and just stick it in would it work?

I would definitely not just rely on a thick layer of sand on the bottom, the Slann is pretty heavy so really needs the extra support. Even then it breaks easily. If you have a flying base, thats cool just stick that onto the 50mm base so it still ranks up. ;)

A small pin vice or handheld drill is very useful in the hobby for pinning models and drilling out holes in bases. There are actually a LOT of metal models that come with a peg on their foot and you need to drill a hole in the square base to slot it into.

Wanted to add my sob story. Finally cracked and bought the new slann model. Two weeks later the finecast model comes out.

Theres something wrong with the pewter inside the slann base so he sits tilted. Need to get that drilled out. and the metal fit together like ass so theres plenty of gaps to green stuff in.
