Titles pretty much says it all.

When the new book released people theorized that Jungle Swarms could be effective when used in combo with other units.

Have anyone tried this and made it work?

I tried a single unit with 2 swarm bases in my 2nd game along with the Ark of Sotek.

Unfortunately they died because a savage orc block with 3 - 4 characters overran a whopping 11" over my skink redirector and into my swarm unit. cool thing was though in the rounds preceding that the Ark added 2 extra swarm bases:)

I am definitely trying them again, just finished making 6 swarms with green stuff and will be giving them a couple of games...

I will also try to play a couple of games with Tehehuain in a swarm unit for the fun factor.

Are they going to be awesome? Don't know...we'll see

=> What's your solution to the apparent strangeness in the rules with him? He can join swarms, but there is some question about his base/classification. As an infantry model, he will not get Look Out, Sir! while in the unit. This will apply even if you decide he should be mounted on a 40mm base.

Just wondering what your take on it is.

I used them, and the poison attacks they provide to our units really helps against high toughness targets (duh?). It helped me kill a terrorgheist in the first round of combat with a unit of ranked up skrox unit (combo-charge with swarms corner to corner with enemy). I think it's a fun, flavorful option to have a unit of 2 jungle swarms and combo charge with an infantry unit (saurus or skinks) to maximize damage. Are they worth their points, maybe. I probably wouldn't bring them in a tournament setting, but will for many friendlies.

I am considering a fun themed list with Tenehuan as the general in a unit of swarms,
2 more swarms, 2 arks of sotec, 2 blocks of spear saurus. maybe some ripperdactals,
and likely some skink skirmishers and or chamellions and beast priest.

Ps. my plan is to use the swarms to screen the arcs of sotec,
so I would put them 1" ahead of the Arcs, and hopefully the will hold
    like regenerating zombie hordes.

I used a pair of Swarms in my last game to test out the Ark of Sotek. I managed to stall two massive hordes of orcs with my two Swarms but the Bastiladon with the Ark of Sotek did very poorly (it absorbed all my bad luck).

I plan to use Swarms some more in the future and give the Ark of Sotek another try, but I don't think Swarms need Arks of Sotek.

How can they stall anything? Don't they die super fast + their unstable rule ._.

I've used them in a couple games and they seem ok. I only got them to add poison for one turn of combat in all that though. They're pretty easy combat rez for your opponent. Definitely need to put them on the flank if you are going to use them effectively.

They work pretty good for protecting your own flanks too. The Unstable rule and 10 wounds usually stops any potential over-run charge. Gives you some time to come up with a counter or get out of the way.

I think Arc's of Sotek need to be taken en masse to get any real use out of them, like many things 1 alone is too unreliable to do much more than tarpit, but 3 popping out extra bases and using their shooting attack in overlapping bubbles could be effective...

On topic - By now everyone knows of my love affair with Razordons, but a large unit could also benefit well from swarm support to make all those skink attacks scary. My unit of 8 Razors could be rocking ~30 skink attacks, not hugely threatening until you tag on poison for ~5 auto wounds on average...

Also, don't be afraid to use them as chaff if the need arises, a unit of 2 bases costs the same as 10 skink skirmishers and thus is semi-disposable if throwing them under a bus helps you more than charging in to support a combat would.

Razordons can shoot over Swarms too so that could open up possibilities.

    They are horrible.
Even in the flank they usually give up more combat res than they bring.
Taking swarms with the Ark of Sotek is even worse.
You end up hiding the ark for ~3 or 4 turns, pumping up a swam unit that disapears in 1 or 2 rounds of combat.
Take Tennehuini isn't any better. While it does stall the death of the swarms, it only stalls it until he is brought into base to base where he is promptly killed, and the swarms crumble again.

IMO, leave the swarms at home, bring skinks and chameleons for poison.

Oddly enough, the Ark of Sotek is still useful.
Just don't waste your time hanging out near a swarm, but rather march (via walk between worlds or hand of glory) into the enemy backfield and start pumping out those buckets full of S2 hits.
I tried a trio of them and was very happy with the results.
I've got a civil war coming up, and the Arks plan on sweep away those pesky skinks.

Yeah, with Swarms at some point I just have to wonder if you're throwing good points after bad. I'd much rather bring a unit of Chameleon Skinks which can poison stuff off at a distance before the messy business of combat begins. And because of Vetock's god awful internal pricing, you can get 5-6 Chameleon Skinks for the cost of two bases of Swarms, and they'll give you on average 2 poisoned wounds each round of shooting.

Now if Swarms were Core, that might be a different matter entirely as they could present a viably interesting alternative to regular Skinks. I wouldn't feel nearly so hard pressed dropping 70 points of Core on a whim that may or may not pay off. But, nope, Vetock says 1-dimensional Core only.

I like them. Use in 2s one behind the other then combo charge so less hits go on them. You can make them almost unkillable with lore of life or give them a save with metal. Even beasts bumping them to t3 can help. Helps bring down bloody t8 sphinxes

In my opinion, you have to build your army around the fact you're using swarms :
An horde of saurii with poison, predatory fighter, and maybe a troglodon shout give you against a unit of 25mm by 5 28+9.33 poisons attacks which is already 6 S4 poison wounds if the swarms survive before the saurii hits. Imo, this is quite good.

Not for 700 points including the Trog it isn't.

Take 6 chamo skinks and you'll have the same number of poison wounds over three rounds of shooting. Or take 3 units of 6 for 1/3 the cost.

Idealy you would want swarms charging in with a big unit of saurus,
peferably with the swarm cliping a corner or on a flank.

I too run them one behind the other combo charge with saurus they dont get hit enough to give up as many wounds as the saurus dish out. I ususally keep them a few inchs to the side so sometimes they can flank charge. I like em.
