    So after a hiatus from 8th edition getting back into the swing of it and always enjoyed using a salamander hunting pack or two! I’ve only realised after all this time you can legally field 6 in a 2k list! Has anyone ever seen it before?! The use of a softened slann and no big monsters stegs or carnosaurs keeps it fun and not too OOT;

Slann, BSB, wandering deliberations, ICI, dispel scroll
Oldblood, Armour of Destiny, dawnstone, GW

30 Sauras warriors, spears full command
    10 skinks, blowpipes
    10 skinks, blowpipes

    26 Temple guard, full command

    3 x Salamander hunting pack, add handler x 3
    3 x Salamander hunting pack, add handler x 2

Bang on 2000. Slann joins the temple guard and OB with the sauras warriors for a two towers approach.

    Thoughts and comments, overkill?!

I love the list. I always like out of the ordinary lists.

But who are you playing? Kind of the most important thing to see whether we need to tweak the list :D

Then next is what is the game plan?

Thanks! It’s an all comers list designed for a 4 game tournament so will be against whoever, it may struggle against an all fast cav elf list but does have the tools to handle most builds.

Standard two towers blocks hold the centre, sig slann can buff prior to combat with wild form, earth blood etc. whilst the sallies flank and flame. Skinks to chaff and harass with some poisoned shooting, simples?

Love the list. Only prob i see is when you go against armies with few rank&file units. But that is probably only against ogre kingdoms.

How do sallies fair in CC? Hardly went into combat with them.

They're okay as flankers. They, like most skirmishers, are going to lose in a straight up fight. If you already have a combat going they can help by getting that flank charge (and also means they don't get hit so much as can't attack in ranks to the side).

They're quite squishy with armour save 5+ (as far as I recall) and only 2 wounds. Plus leadership is pants, so even with cold-blooded they're not going to stick around.

They can be fragile and will die in droves to anything with a rank bonus but 2 Strength 5 attacks each plus handlers attacks (Don’t forget they chip in!) aren’t anything to sniff at.

3 salamander hunting packs with additional handlers will be 6 s5 attacks and 12 s3 attacks ( assuming they can all be in combat)

    Also 3 wounds each

The point is they're Skirmishers and don't have good initiative so keep them out of combat unless you're going to flank someone.
