Army Fluff Lustria Online Fluff based Blood Bowl Side / What stories on here do you love?

My massively long preamble ramble:

Hi Everyone,

Some of you may or may not know that I am primarily a Blood Bowl player, not having played Fantasy since Lizardman's first rulebook. If you will allow me a humble brag, I was the first (and only) person to take out a title with Orcs, in a 67 season league with 30-50 Blood Bowl coaches in Australia and New Zealand.

I only took Orcs as Lizardmen were unavailable (our league has racial restrictions) but I have retired them last season and am hoping to redraft Lizardmen... everything is set, I am about 90% sure I will be able to get them.

I like good naming themes, my Orc side were named after my favourite spots in a national park (https://fumbbl.com/p/team?team_id=766950).

I have been thinking about how I would name my Lizards and I am thinking I will name them after heroes in various stories that exist here. Then when they click on the name of my player, I can link them to the story of the hero they were named after. We might get some more readers, that would be cool.

I will have one kroxigor, six sarurus, and seven skinks.

This post exists because I will need help - I can never remember names of stories or authors. Plus I am very much open to suggestions.

a) Okay the Kroxigor. The story that sticks out at me is an albino Kroxigor who held off a Bloodthirster. The phase "hold fast" (or something similar) was in there. But was this a canon Kroxigor? I wouldn't want that. Anyone can put me in the right direction?

Saurus - well the first one that sticks out at me Kaitar. I loved @Scalenex 's story The Orhpaned Temple City, I think it might have been his best.

Skinks - Huan-kai will have to be in there as well.

Okay... okay so as I type this I am realising some of the stories that are in my head I am not even sure if they are skinks, or saurus, or serephon who are definitely NOT welcome... or are they? Ta’avik's story was pretty damn good.... that was @spawning of Bob story, yeah?

b) The story where they were sitting around the campfire remember a lost friend... what was that?

Anyway, anyway.

I get to the point:

I want to know from you, what piece of writing on this forum really sticks in your mind? Do you think deserves to have a character named after it, and be plugged over at fumbbl? (Not your own work, but if you really think you deserve it, feel free to nominate it along with another).

I am really curious, but yes off the top of my head
- Scalenex and Bob's aforementioned stories:
- Harvest (serephon)
- The aforementioned kroxigor story, as well as the campfire story
- That other one from horror where the serephon kept that evil wizard away from doing experiments on them




PS. Bob please forgive me, I just realised I haven't been keeping tabs on your blood bowl fluff, I will get stuck into that asap.

We also need a name for the side! I'm thinking "Lustria Legion" The Legion part is a nod to this being a Lustria Online forum.

Why was I not surprised which was your favourite N.P.?

Mahtis is my cross-dressing Krox (named for a lost forum member) from the Bob epic, Takul was from the Blood bowl fluff in my signature links. The Krox from The Great Game by @pendrake (Tlax the Unworthy) has great poetic merit. I'm struggling to name other original krox from here (@Scalenex had a couple named in Divided We Fall, but they died)

Wrt the Bloodbowl fluff, I am 3 projects away from doing a rewrite and then finishing it properly, but if you had a reasonable deadline for the revision to go on the BB forum, I could prioritise...

I would just like to point out, I got the name Omyitl from the Cyanide game...

@Bowser - have you written any stories with Saurus in it (not Serephon)?

Great... @Slanputin I would love to include one of yours, I have a Saurus slot to fit. I originally had serpents brew for a skink but I have needed to remove that... do you have any Saurus characters you like? Your best story that has a Saurus in it?

What do we think of the name "Lustria
Legion"? I think it should be "Lustrian Legion" but that name is already taken (annoying the entire site won't allow duplicates, even if the team is inactive).

I could go "Lustrian Legion!" But I don't think it looks good. I could go "SWL Lustrian Legion". (SWL is the name of the league) or possibly "South Lustrian Legion" though should that be "Southern Lustrian Legion"? Or "Southern Lustria Legion" for some reason that feels right but it can't be can it?

Thoughts or suggestions?

 

Lustrian Legends maybe? Temple City Tramplers. Although I do like the South Lustrian Legion, sounds kinda gangsta. South side represent. Southland Storm Squad maybe?

 

Legend is a good call. Fits the theme better. "Legend of Lustria" is available. However Legends of Lustria or Lustrian Legends are taken.

Legion of Lustrian Legends is available.... If i wanted to push it that far.

Fun! Now someone with no experience will lecture you, famous champion, on how it's done:

It has to be "The [place name] [objects or animals]"

Note, place name should be the exact name, not the demonym (ie Lustria or Itza, not Lustrian or Itzan) and the animals/objects should be plural.

So The Lustria Legends, not Legend of Lustria.

Also, alliteration is generally discouraged.

The Zlatlan Quetzacoatls
The Lustria Firsts
The Tlanxla Serpents
The Pyramid Hosts
The Hexoatl Defenders
The Scorpion Coast Stegadons
The Itza Itxi Grubs (my favourite, even if it is alliterative)

...or any combination thereof, so on and so forth. In my opinion it's important to keep to traditional NFL naming conventions. Also I prefer "simple" names like animals to "grandiose" names like legends or legions. It's a blood bowl team not an army. The legend should be built on its long-term success, not granted just because that's its name. No one would be rooting for the Cubs if they were called the Almighty Hosts of Valhalla.

Annoyingly, Bob never named the team he depicts in his blood dish fluff, so we can't steal that...although we do know they were from Tlanxla.

Now go forth and freely ignore everything I've just said, I literally have no idea what I'm talking about.
