Hey, looks like a lot of effort has gone into those models, thanks for sharing :)

I really like your salmanders, if you don't mind I might try one out like that.

I'm figuring a black primer. Then painting a large area red, then a smaller area orange, smaller area yellow. Looks like you have the scales black again. I'll wait and see how it looks before deciding on the scale colors, but overall I'm really liking what you have there.

Sorry for the late reply, I had issues logging in to my account.

I'm glad you like the salamanders. Some of the pictures are a bit out of date now as I have re-done the bases on some of the models.

The salamanders were done pretty much how you said, although they were reversed highlighted first.

I can post up some new pics of the army if anyone wants to see them.

Just a bit of constructive criticism: your bases are very bland. I would suggest some jungle plants or water features to liven them up and make it seem more 'jungly' rather then 'open-plain-with-a-few-scattered-rocksy'.

lol. That's exactly what I've done on some of the units to make them more jungle-ish.

I didn't want to do it on all the bases, otherwise I think its a bit too much, and transporting gets to be a pain.

I've added to the bases of the kroxigors and the steg. The TG unit that I've nearly finished (converted from genestealers), will have bases with leaves on as unit fillers as I only have 11 models but would normally need 16 - you'll see what I mean when I post pics.

Also going to try to do some sub-merged skinks. Should be a laugh. Maybe just one unit of them.

I recognise the sig, although there are 2 sigs on the vault that are very much alike.

Go on then, who are you? What's your name on TPV?

    UPDATE:

Should finish the TG unit tonight. I'll try and post pics up tonight, otherwise it'll be tomorrow evening.

Sorry cyber for nagging, but i will have to get used to those colors....
I am not really fond of them, although i have to admit it could be the light......

What i do like is the idea of giving these guys a completely different color then your "normal" SW....

Do you have some kind of coating over them?

You not fond of just the colours, or the models aswell?

As for the "coating" they have been dipped. Also, I had just varnished them, so they may be a bit "shiney" than in real life and could explain what the "coating" thing is.

My normal warriors are blue. The shields are the same on both units (I've only finished 2 warriors).

The red on the shields ties in the unit to the rest of the army (red skinks, red carnie, red steg, red kroxigors, red lord kroak).

If I get time some day soon I'll take a army wide shot to demostrate.

Does anyone like them? The converstions were a little bit fiddly.

I have to get used to the colours.
I do use FAB myself and really like the result.
Never played with temple guards (prefer Old blood). I do own a unit of them, but they still have that metal look! (Well maybe they have some colour, but that would be the dust that landed on them...... :smug: )

well I like them! Could you post a couple of close up pics of a single one? I'd like to see the conversions in a bit more detail. I like the colour scheme a lot.

I don't have pics of idividual ones, but I can post a better pic of the front rank and explain how they were done if you want?

Yes, they were genestealers. I thought they'd make good warriors so I converted a unit. Now they act as my temple guard or Royal Guard (warriors with Quetzl and ITP). Not the cheapest converstion, but I had plenty of warrior parts left over and a box or two of genestealers so it wasn't that bad. At least they are unique looking.

Here are some close up pics of the front rank:

The converstion is quite easy to do, although it was kind of fiddly. If anyone wants me to post a "guide" to making them, then I will do. Otherwise ENJOY!! And let me know what you think :)

    Thanks.

They were quite easy to do. First of undercoat the shields black (always paint shields on the sprue, makes it much easier). Then drybrush them red gore. Once dry, paint the outline of each scale with blood red (this bit takes the longest). Paint the gold bits shining gold. After the gold is dry give only the gold a wash of flesh wash. That's it.

    Hope that helps.
