hi. I am slightly new to warhammer, I have played and know the rules to 40k, and I've joined this forum to learn some more about fantasy. Could I just have some basic rules like... What armour saves are like and if there is BS and WS? Thank you! #blue people are the best. Tau for the win
I've not played 8th edition but I do have the rule book and some army books, the stat format is similar to 40k but unlike 40k the movement in fantasy is a critical part of the game. I play AOS which is simple in comparison to both Fantasy and 40k
There is a WS and a BS. Armour saves can vary from 1+ to 6+ (or none at all), but a roll of 1 is always considered a fail. There is no "AP" in Fantasy, instead the armour save is modified by the strength of the attack wounding the model. The stronger the attack, the worse the armour save becomes (and can be negated if the strength is sufficiently high enough). Strength 1, 2 or 3 = no modifer Strength 4 = -1 to armour save Strength 5 = -2 to armour save Strength 6 = -3 to armour save Strength 7 = -4 to armour save Strength 8 = -5 to armour save Strength 9 = -6 to armour save Strength 10 = -7 to armour save So for instance, if you have a 2+ armour save and you are wounded by a strength 5 attack, you would roll for a 4+ armour save.
Also, even S1 can hurt T10, there's no "My puny weapons can't touch 'em" rule like in 40k. And instead of invulnerability saves, Fantasy has Ward. And they stack with Armour saves. So, if you have an Oldblood with 2+/4++ (the ++ denoting a Ward save) who gets hit by an S6 hit, he would first roll an Armour save with 5+, and then, on top of tap, unmodified Ward sve of 4++.
If you played 2nd Ed 40k then in terms of WS, BS, S and T it pretty much the same as fantasy. I havent played 40k in years as you can tell
