Hey Lustrians, I'm currently deciding on a 'small' new army project to complete over the summer. Doing so the Stegadon model peeked my interest. The idea of a mostly Stegadon force is on top of my mind. However, aside from a few good tactical write-ups/video's found online I'm also looking for personal experiences. Is it fun to play such an army? Or does it only look cool? Anyway: here's the list. Looking forward to your C&C and personal experiences playing similar lists! Also, feel free to switch in/out other warcrolls in case this set-up is lacking! Cheers! Allegiance: Seraphon Constellation: Thunder Lizard LEADERS •Stegadon with Skink Chief (250) - General - Command Trait: Prime Warbeast - Artefact: Fusil of Conflaguration - Weapon: Skystreak Bow •Stegadon with Skink Chief (250) - Weapon: Skystreak Bow •Skink Starseer (140) - Spell: Hand of Glory UNITS •10 x Skinks (60) - Meteoric Javelins Celestite Daggers & Star Bucklers •10 x Skinks (60) - Meteoric Javelins Celestite Daggers & Star Bucklers •Stegadon (240) - Weapon: Skystreak Bow - Seraphon Battleline (Constellation: Thunder Lizard) TOTAL: 1000 points
I really like the approach of the stegageddon army. But you run into one problem and that is to hold points. You only got around 20 skinks and 3 Stegadons. I dont know if it is worth to play a monster heavy Army at 1000 Points. But i will try it out on myself when the celestial stampede Box arrives
Sorry for the not so proper lists format... Ive only ever really gone full hog into steggadon. So ... Skink chief on steg. 3x steg Or Slann Bastilidon Steg Steg (I think a balewind vortex fits here) As pointed out objective game is rough, but at 1k boards are small enough that with all their shooting it's reasonable to snipe important units and hope the enemy fizzles after that. I've only played vs LoN, Storm cast, and FeC. FeC and ghouls are essentially impossible to deal with but I have been able to realiablly kill their bigs heroes. The other two felt more like an even match.
Thanks! Agree, grabbing objectives is indeed going to be a pain (or nearly impossible). About playing monster heavy at 1000 points: It could also 'surprise' your opponents right? Maybe some opponents 'lose' their cool and forget to focus on the objective game in sight of all these monsters Good to hear you got the Celestial Stampede box: nice deal!
Thanks fo the tip! Target priority will be key indeed. Hopefully the three bows will be enough to deal with that.
Let me know how it goes! Im new to both this forum and AoS, and currently painting up some stegs for a 1000p army. Was thinking bout something like: Allegiance: Seraphon Constellation: Thunder Lizard LEADERS * Stegadon with Skink Cheif (250) -General - skystreak bow UNITS * Stegadon (240) -Skystreak bow *Stegadon (240) -Skystreak bow * Bastilladon (220) -Solar engine TOTAL: 950 points But yeah.... only 4 models ahahah.....
Will do! Fan of your list btw. In fact, at first I had a similar list to yours in mind. But I quickly realized that also being able to 'do something' with screening units (the skinks) & casting a spell each turn was something I could not skip. Still: way to go all Stegadon in your case! Also: nice that the 950 points gives you acces to another command point due to triumphs!
Thanks! Im sure some modifications will occur as I learn more of the rules, but yeah big dinos all the way ahah. Also i hadn't noticed the extra command point possibility thanks for that too
