A friend of mine is coming into town on Saturday with 1500 points of Stormcast and I'm trying to prepare to play him. Last time we played he utterly destroyed me and I'm hoping with the new General's Handbook I might have a better chance at matching him even if I don't win. I have a few lists I'm considering using and could use feedback on which is the best choice as well as what artifacts and traits to use. My opponent has everything from the original AoS starter set, the Stormcast start collecting, a Lord Aquilor, and I believe some of the vanguard raptors or something similar. List 1: Fangs of Sotek Sunclaw Starhost Slann Starmaster -General -Vast Intellect -Incandescent Retrices Oldblood on Carnosaur -Blade of Realities Saurus Sunblood Skink Starpriest 40 Saurus Warriors 10 Saurus Warriors x2 List 2: Dracothian's Tail Firelance Starhost Slann Starmaster -Incandescent Retrices Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur -General -Thickly Scaled Hide -Blade of Realities Scar-Veteran on Cold-One Skink Starpriest 5 Saurus Knights x3 40 Saurus Warriors List 3: Dracothian's Tail Firelance Starhost Slann Starmaster -Incandescent Retrices Oldblood on Carnosaur -General -Thickly Scaled Hide -Coronal Shield Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur 5 Saurus Knights x3 Stegadon w/ Giant Bow
Interesting! I also have a 1500 pt match against stormcast coming up and I've also previously been destroyed. I have been considering a more Kroak-centered list: Allegiance: Seraphon Leaders Lord Kroak (450) - General Saurus Astrolith Bearer (160) Skink Priest (80) - Priestly Trappings Engine of the Gods (220) - Artefact: Incandescent Rectrices Battleline 5 x Saurus Guard (100) - Seraphon Battleline 5 x Saurus Guard (100) - Seraphon Battleline 40 x Skinks (200) - Meteoric Javelins & Star Bucklers Units 2 x Salamanders (80) Scenery Balewind Vortex (100) Total: 1490/2000 The biggest obstacle for me when facing SE is the Lord Celestant on Dracoth with the 2+ save (re-rollable 1). Therefore we need either heavy rend or mortal wounds to get through. In that regard all your listes aim at one of the two (rend or mortal wounds). I can see, however, that list 2 uses 40 warriors without the battalion (and therefore no rend). I wonder if something else might be better suited for those points?
