Hi friends! I have my 1st tournament on 8th March and the list is due at midnight tonight so doing some last minute thinking on what to bring and thought to share in case anyone else is like me and pours over lists and forums I feel my safest option is a standard 2k Thunderquake is best as I'm not in the slightest experienced and it's the simpler list to implement of my two preferred choices. The other is the DT/FL/SS. Below are the lists curated by the great LizardWizerd. Any last minute comments are welcome from this wonderful community! 1. Thunderquake Realm: Shyish Slann [260] | Artefact: Ragged Cloak | Spell: Stellar Tempest AB [180] EOTG [240] | Artefact: Ethereal Amulet Starpriest [80] | Spell: Stellar Tempest Skinks x10 [70] | Boltspitters and Bucklers Skinks x10 [70] | Boltspitters and Bucklers Saurus Knights x5 [80] | Lances Saurus Knights x5 [80] | Lances Razordons x3 [120] Skink Handlers [40] Bastiladon [280] | Searing beam Bastiladon [280] | Searing beam Endless Spells Chronomantic Cogs [80] Balewind Vortex [50] Battalion Thunderquake Starhost [120] Total: 2000/2000 Extra Command Points: 1 Wounds: 95 Comments: TL/DR; it's a less complex list to run Wondering if I should consider changing the Saurus Knight units back to Skinks to avail of the shooting re-rolls. Just thought the knights would be more durable for screening and more Skinks would be summoned in around the TQ bubble anyway. Also wondering if the lances should be swapped for blades unless I use them to run down the flanks instead of screening. 2. DT/FL/SS - directly from the great LizardWizard Allegiance: Seraphon - Mortal Realm: Ulgu LEADERS: Slann Starmaster (260) - General - Command Trait : Great Rememberer - Artefact : Miasmatic Blade Saurus Oldblood on Carnosaur (240) - Artefact : Doppelganger Cloak Saurus Scar-Veteran on Cold One (100) - Artefact : Betrayer's Crown Skink Starpriest (80) - Artefact : Light of Dracothion UNITS: 6 x Ripperdactyl Riders (280) 10 x Skinks (70) - Meteoric Javelins & Star Bucklers 10 x Skinks (70) -Meteoric Javelins & Star Bucklers 5 x Saurus Knights (80) - Lance 5 x Saurus Knights (80) - Lance 5 x Saurus Knights (80) - Lances 3 x Razordons (120) BATTALIONS: Dracothion's Tail (80) Firelance Starhost (150) Shadowstrike Starhost (180) ENDLESS SPELLS / TERRAIN: Balewind Vortex (40) Chronomantic Cogs (80) TOTAL: 1990/2000 EXTRA COMMAND POINTS: 3 WOUNDS: 107 Comments: TL/DR; I don't think I am experienced enough to use this list effectively yet, meaning the TQ list is a safer bet for now. I've played this list four times in practise games vs Kharadron Overlords. I lost 3 of those games for good reasons: 1 - Slann was slain turn 1, units in Heavens could not drop, 2 - allowed KO to go first, Slann was slain turn 1, only dropped half my units in heavens so the rest could not drop 3 - dropped everything this time and charged but I didn't select the correct unit for knights + rippers. All KO units flew high and got away. We were playing "Gift from the Heavens" and the 1st meteor landed on his entire army Slann again targeted so had to screen out half the board with some knights and skinks. KO won on points this game. I look forward to reporting on the latest KO battles - I have pictures this time! - and also on the upcoming tournament results
Good luck on your tournament. I would consider changing the Etheral Amulet to the Ragged Cloak on the TQ EotGs. Shooting has gotten a lot better since I first wrote the list. DoT have some crazy shooting. The DT/SS list is very brittle and requires very solid play. I really enjoy running it, but it is not beginner friendly. I would recommend running the dual EotGs SS list over it. It is much more beginner friendly.
Thanks for the tips as always! I will go with the TQ for this tournament and consider the SS for my next one. It turns out I can't use Realm Artefacts so must stick with those from the batletome I'm going to put Incandescent Retrices on the Slann and the Prism on the EOTG. Hopefully I could just summon another ETOG to maintain the TQ buffs if my first one is targeted
Best of luck. Spend a bit of time theory crafting your kill priority. This will help you make more informed targeting choices with your initial rounds of shooting. Sadly, only the EotGs from the Battalion allows for the Savage and Swift buffs
Thank you for the well wishes. I didn't realise the EOTG in the Battalion allowed it only! I will possibly have to consider bringing two from the beginning in the battalion in order to mitigate the potential loss of one in that case.
