Just finished them and was too happy not to ask for an opinion Enjoy . My dream now would be a StegaSandWorm.... How cool would that be ? But probably a nighmare to convert XD.
They look great man. Ps. not sure exacly big it is, but it's prety big.... http://www.reapermini.com/figurefinder#detail/77006 (Sand Worm) Edit. I think it might be 3" high on a 40mm base.
Welcome to the forum! Those look great. The red really jumps with the lighter beige (sand) colored skin.
Simple but effective and very striking. The red claws are an interesting choice, and somehow very malevolent. At a quick thought your stegaworm could be simpler than you think. Get some oven bake clay (sculpey etc) and roll some fat, basic worm segments (think loch ness monster humps thing like a neck, a couple of sideways C shapes and a tail) then bake em off, then wrap those in a thin layer of greenstuff and texture it however you want - scrape pins or pencils or something round it for a wrinkled look or score scales into it etc. Then just build your howdah on to it with the stegadon kit bits Oh, and obviously add the steg head onto the neck...
Nice Lizzies. A sand army could be a bit of a waste of the aquatic special rule (unless you have a beach theme with umbrellas and the odd beach ball on a themed base here and there) Wait! Bob feels a cartoon coming on...... Once again n810 gets the always ASF award and falls short of winning the proof reading prize. If the guy in n810's link http://www.reapermini.com/figurefinder#detail/77006 won't serve as a stegadon, he could easily proxy for salamander or razordon (or both). With those fangs, poor eyesight and probable lack of sense of direction he would be ideal. Wouldn't look bad in swampy Lustria either. Does it occur to anyone that the equivalent citadel model would be $299.00 rather than $2.99. I'll take six.
I actually own one of those worms. It is just a little bigger than a Kroxigor. A very nice model for $2.99 though! I bought it to use in a Mordheim scenario.
Haha yeah I already new that stand worm model ans they will definitly proxy fort salamanders As for the theme of the army . I really love the idea of some kind of hibernation. They were an army that got caught in a disaster their city was buried under mud or whatever. The slqnn died and momifie, and the surroundings of thecity.became an arid desert. Then an underground river luckily connected with one of the buried pond of the city. Spawning skinks that took care of the remaining slann relics. So while living in a.desert and displaying traits of adaptation to desertic environment s those lizard are 'oasis' lizard and thus thrive in the water provided by those oasis. Thus this loredoes not deny the ability of my sand lizziew to have fun in water I'm gonna stop here writing on my phone is not the easi st thing.
After quite a long period of inactivity... I'm back with a skink priest . imgur album here http://imgur.com/a/gKwWh . I have 2 kuraq underway, Kroaq that I plan to use as a mumified desert slann (not that far from reality I suppose...) 30 something Temple guards and a hundred skinks. Should be able to play 2k fully painted soon !! I just can't wait.
Very excellent execution of your theme! Desert Lizardmen are probably one of my favorite Lizardmen motiffs and you pulled it off very well. Good attention to detail. Any more realistic looking and they could stand in for CGI Lizardmen in a high budget movie.
Added 2 scar vet to my collection, though I'm not quite satisfied with the painting job, I really wanted to get them ready for the gaming table . I got my hand on a carnosaur old blood kit, that i will convert on a storm of magic coldone. Should be menacing enough !!
The models are looking good! Love the Priest and the Scar Vets on the Cold Ones look ready to slaughter the enemies of the Old Ones!
