I haven't had many changes to try wet blending, I'd like to start with a simple enough surface like cape or really flat vehicle, but none of my current armies have much in the way of those. With Necrons I have vehicles, but I haven't had time to paint them yet. So in a sense, I'm more experienced with layering than wet blending.

Chiming in here, hope this topic isn't dead! You guys inspired me to have a go at making a Flying Saurus and I came up with a Laputa style flying rock as I thought that would fit in nicely with a temple city and the general mysteries of the Old Ones.

@Scaly Sotek do you have any pictures of your Flying Saurus from any other angles? It being inspired by Laputa I'm assuming that's a crystal in the centre, so i'd like to see how you've modelled it :p

Here's my take on the Arabyan Carpet for our Old Blood.

Heres a few more angles, I rushed the paint job a bit 'cause I was impatient to see what he looked like so I might go back over him later. The glyph in the centre is a couple of Tomb King standards, glowing blue due to all that magic.
Oh, and he's not meant to be Gor-Rok, all my hero models are albino.

I had my doubts that you would get the rock part looking right, o_O
but consider my doubts dispelled, it looks exactly like a large piece of volcanic pumice rock.
