    Welcome mates! :)

I'd like to make a band of skinks for Mordheim. As original Lizardmen warband is quite strange and I don't realy like saurus, I've decided to do a pure skink forces using skaven rules.
Why Skaven? Both spieces use speed as their main weapon. In Mordheim skaven warband is from Eshin clan, so there are no strange weapon, just agile rats with swords, maces and slings. Skaven heroes are quite strong, but I place my skinks in Southlands and treat them as much more agressive.

Pictures of my chief, in WIP state still. He is my first lizardmen miniature (as I've been painting humans only to this day)

In reality he's brighter. I have to work on sword and add last line of highlights.
I haven't decided on bases outlook.

Welcome to the board! He looks good, nice work. I like the mix of colours you have chosen, cool shield choice.

I already commented on TBM forum but I can't help to comment again =) The colours are so rich and while both are really strong tones they work so god together =) keep it up mate!

can you write what steps for the 2 sets of colors. I'm really new to painting and I tried to recreate this and couldn't get the brightness down.

    With pleasure! :)
I use mix of Gw and Vallejo paints. In text I will signature them with [GW] and [V].
As a basecoat I use gray "ordinary" paint in spray.

    Blue:
    1. I started with Imperial Blue [V] and covered all body parts.
    2. First highlight was with mix of Imperial Blue with Magic Blue [V] in 2:1 ratio.
    3. Second highlight with the same mix but in 1:2 ratio (simply add same amount of Magic Blue to the mixture as left on palete).
    4. Highlight with pure Magic Blue.
    5. Last highlight with mix of Magic Blue with Off White [V] in 2:1 ratio.

    Orange:
    1. I covered scales with Blood Red [GW].
    2. Some wash with Gryphone Sepia between the scales.
    3. First highlight with mix of Blood Red and Deep Yellow [V] in 3:1 ratio (or even less yellow).
    4. Second and last highlight with the same mix in 2:1 ratio.

    I hope this will help.

    Thank you!
Vallejo blues are amazing! I use only one layer of them, they cover so well! With other V paints I don't have so much luck (especially whites and yellows and they are always hard colors) but it may be due to not proper pigment mix (I shake bottle too weak :p )

    5 other skinks:
    GroupWIP1.jpg
I have to highlight claws, gold and tiles on bases. I will also piant cests to easily identify groups, but I'm going to only wash this lightly; I don't want bold colour here.
This skinks are in fact darker, a tone darker than the chef. I'm also very suprised, how tall he is in comparison with ordinary skink.

    Thanks for comment!

I've got a question. How looks like armour for skinks? I'd like to make some guys in light armour. I have some ideas, but maybe someone has just made this, so I can compare my concepts with reality.

Very good work! I especially like the head fins on the skinks. The white really jumps out at you.

Great paint jobs. It's good to see that someone else still plays Mordhiem.

    They look good! Nice work.

I personally haven't seen any skins with light armour on them. I think something like light armour can be represented on LM by the scaly skin, not sure how skinks with armour would look.

It was long time since last post, but I have other prioritates :)
I've converted and painted some new models. They are for Mordheim, so don't be confused with some weapons ;)

Brave with halberd and priest. Both converted from ordinary skinks.

    Heroes2.JPG

Kroxigor. I find old version more grim and sinister. THis from 6th and 7th edistion are also too dynamic for my taste :p

I really like the conversion work you did on both those models. The paint job is also very good. I should really try to put my hands on the Mordheim rules and make my own little warband of some kind. Great job once more!

    I've finished second Brave:
    Brave1.JPG
    Brave2.JPG
I've also made a snake (see on pictures few lines down :p ). It's my first whole sculpted miniature.

Now I have enough painted models for two versions of warband. Soon I will paint more, but I have to make some models for other warbands.

My skinks need some proper terrain, so I've made small "zikkurat"

Nice work. Was that gray minature a chameleon or was that a conversion of Oxyotl? Either way, could we see a close up of that model? There is alot of interest in converting regular skinks into chameleons, it would be nice to see it close up.

    Thanks

    Close-up pictures of chameleon:
    Chameleon1.JPG
    Chameleon2.JPG
    Chameleon3.JPG

Only conversions are: belt across torso, tail curved on fire and eyes made of green stuff, which look like big american donuts :p Next time I would do them more pointed. And other chameleons will have crest cutted. Without they look more "gekko" and I like it :)

My band is for underground setting, so Chameleon is grey (the closest neureal colour) and have red scales on the back to keep with orange of other skinks.
