Hi! I'm a former Wood Elf/Eldar player who hasn't played in a long time (WHFB 6th/ 40k 4th). I recently needed a model for a Lizardfolk D&D character, so I bought a Sunblood and some paints. It ended up being the best mini I've ever done and lo and behold I'm hooked again and want to buy an army. Having gotten the Sunblood and liking the look of the Seraphon, it's what I want to get into. I've already bought some ripperdactyls and have what I think is a pretty cool color scheme. I've been playing around with the Warscroll Builder (where was this back in the day!?) more or less looking at the models I think look cool and go (I think) with the playstyle I like, and based on stuff I've read while lurking the forum. This is what I came up with for a 1k army: Skink Starpriest (80) Saurus Sunblood (120) Engine of the Gods (220) Saurus Knights w/ Lances x 5 (90) Saurus Knights w/ Lances x 5 (90) Ripperdactyl Riders x 6 (280) Razordons x 3 (120) Total 1000 Is this a good list? I'm looking for something primarily fun but at least kind of competitive. It looks like what I'd build and play, but I don't know how it would work in real life, and definitely don't know how it interacts with the current meta. Thanks, and I appreciate all comments and suggestions.
Welcome to Lustria and back into the hobby. I think your list is a great starting point. Please check my AoS list thread in my signature. There are a few 1k list that I recommend.
Hi, I think you forgot the Starpriest? Is this your list? Allegiance: Seraphon Engine of the Gods (220) - Artefact: Coronal Shield Skink Starpriest (80) - General - Trait: Master of Star Rituals Saurus Sunblood (120) 5 x Saurus Knights (90) - Lances 5 x Saurus Knights (90) - Lances 6 x Ripperdactyl Riders (280) 3 x Razordons (120) Total: 1000 / 1000 Wounds: 68
Thanks for the replies! Reading up on some of the tactics, I think this is definitely the way I want to go, so now to get started and get the army up and running. I really like the idea of a fast, agile army that can be brutal against high value targets, but is more about moving about and seizing and/or denying objectives. Basically. I haven't decided yet on traits and artefacts, but that's the list (and both Master of Star Rituals and Coronal Shield look really good).
