Finally based 4 more plague marines. Whole family struck by covid, so hobby time is basically nonexistent.
Thanks to covid sleep issues, I woke up in early hours and decided to be at least bit productive... This little nightmare has some progress:
Funny story, I painted for hour from 1AM today to keep myself awake. Merry Christmas to you all! ... Spoiler: Storytime Kiddo started vomiting at midnight and when spots of blood appeared, we called an ambulance. Since nearest hospital canceled kids department some time ago, ambulance crew told me that they need to call to neighboring hospitals and ask where some free room is. Since I slept only couple of hours total in last couple of days, I knew that if I play a movie, I'll pass out. So I took out few paints, made myself large coffee and sat down to concentrate. Later I started calling to all hospitals in cities around, since for two and half hours I had no info about kiddo and better half and it was snowing heavily outside. Luckily, sixth hospital was the one they were in and I could wait less nervous. He is now safe and it is nothing major, but this year's Christmas will be at hospital.
Thank you, he is already recovering from home. After tests, they kept him there mostly just for observation. We moved Christmas one day so he can properly enjoy it.
That is one Christmas you will not forget quickly Good to hear all is well now. I wish you and yours a better new year's Grrr, !mrahil
It is slowly pilling up. Couple of years back, 18th of December, we had junkie high as kite breaking through our apartment door just to tell us he would like to sleep on our couch. After I told him that it won't be possible, he barricaded himself at elevator engine room and it took police about hour to get him out, because he took ladder with him. We spent christmas barricading front door every night, because nobody was able to repair them at that short notice.
Alrighty. This year plastic haul was nice. I got chaos land raider and deimos predator for my DG forces and Stug III for Bolt action. I am covid negative today and since tomorrow nobody will be at modellers club and I got the keys, I got promised that I can go there after lunch while kiddo naps. I have stockpiled on milliput and I have some pre made greenstuff boils and tentacles. So we'll se what I'll be able to do... (Land Raider came in white box, no picture needed)
So far so good. Assault ramp is magneted, so it does click together nicely, so are both side hatches on left and heavy boltguns in front. I also sculpted half of whole milliput box just to fill "belly of the beast".
Little bit of progress. Top plate is only dry fitted, hence it not fitting properly. I also have cleaned all the remaining parts. When I sculpt some more boils onto outer plates and glue all the missing parts, I can start painting.
I wrote this to 2024 yearly goal at thursday: "Don't buy more armies, only expand existing ones." Yesterday while kiddo was napping, I was eyeing pretty nice deal for whole Tau army on sprues. I resisted in the end, but I was -> this <- close to busting my year goal first week.
I asked friend to print me nurglings for Land Raider. They are beautiful. Also it would be a shame to make print of only three of those little buggers, so I put something other to bed as well. Say hello to Number 3. And here we have new weapons. I scaled different variants of avenger and missile pod, so all those brigands donĀ“t look the same.
I can tell you right now that I myself was not expecting to start this feathered serpent by painting goblins and orks.
Modellers club today and another update on Land raider. I clipped off exhausts and replaced them with resin ones I bought couple of years ago from Ramshackle games. Assembled and magnetised lascannons, filled cracks with goo and glued all those small details together. All that is left before primer is to magnetise back hatch (so it can rotate with bolters) and put some strings to stretched skin on top. Here are magnetised subassemblies (with lascannons only dryfitted for even easier painting): Oh and there is plenty of empty space in the back accesible through lascannon hatches. I plan to get some cheap mp3 player with speaker, so it can play music during gameplay.
Two more war dogs printed as I came to work today. One Karnivore (total melee) and one stalker (melta & melee). What have I done .
One would say that when you have poseable 3D print, dynamic poses would be easy to make... Well, they are not I spent hour of fiddling with position, angle and lenght just to in the end shorten the leg (read "retracting pistons") and put marine onto tactical rock rock. And here are those two new War Dogs posed and ready for painting: Edit: I just realised I still have to pull inside of Karnivore to sit nurgling in there
