So I had a discussion with a buddy of mine earlier tonight about who the best wizard SHOULD be in AoS.

Of course I said Kroak, as in the lore of The Old World, he simply was the best. No body could top him.
He said a few, namely the Greater Demons of Tzeentch, Nagash, and Teclis.

Now Nagash is the best wizard in Death, no questions asked. But how he said for the demons and Teclis is what brought this up.

But it should be known that, we both agreed that Teclis and Kroak would be the best wizards of order, and top 5 in AoS.

Mainly it came down to two arguments, the first was that a GDoT, would be older and more experienced than Kroak, since Chaos has existed longer. The second was that Teclis is a God of magic. And AoS is the age of gods, he should be a much better mage than our Lord and Saviour Kroak.

I wanted to hear what us at Lustria think of this, now I do know things could be a bit biased, since we are all Lizardman/Seraphon fans hear, but I do wish to hear what there is to be said.

As it could matter, we did bring up what NEW Kroak should be able to do, and what Teclis should be able to do, in both lore and on the table. And that both of these models should be Nagash/Archaon levels of power.

Kroak beng a first generation slaan that accompanied the old ones before they developed the world that was then wouldn't they be older than the chaos powers as chaos originated from the destabilized polar gates the old ones made there?

Kroak is literally almost as powerful as the mortal gods.
He can turn a Lord of Change inside out. A normal Slann is supposed to be just as, or more powerful than them as well.

he is stronger then the mortal gods normal slann are teir 4-c powerd beings(capable of moving and eating stars) and kroak is stronger the best that the mortal gods can do is 6-a maybe 5-c (multi contanant lvl- small moon) we see this in the end times when god mode tecles can't do anything when the moon falls but the slann shift stars around in game. sigmar has very little magic to speak of alariel got magically bodied by nurgle when a normal slann tore a relm gate away from him in a magic duel. and nagash has trouble working with the sands of death and we just stroll threw them.
kroak has the highest kill count, has been shown to kill 12 bloodthirsters directly empowered by khorn with magic(killed not banashed so far he is the only one out side of the chaos gods that can do this), created his own realms when the old world fell, is one of only 2 beings capable of ignoring death under their own power, can create suns and black holes at will and more the only beings in AoS that can compeat with him are the chaos gods

Kroak held the defences of Itza up for years. Not days, weeks or months but years. Then when he couldnt he vaporised 100k daemons as well as the surronding jungle and then continued raining death from the heavens. I doubt even a GDoT could do that alone.
Then when he died he willed himself back to life. I think even Nagash had to be ritualy summond back!

Kroak should be costed so high you could'nt play it in 2k pts games, if he was at the same power lvl he is in the lore.

Well yes but i was talking whose best lorewise.
Tabletop wise i think he really should be 700-800pts and be in the league of Nagash and Archaon in terms of his magic, obviously not his combat :)

I'd say Kroak, there is barely competition lorewise.
If GDoT could do anything about Kroak they would have when he defended Itza the first time, and his spells almost destroyed reality due to their power; Furthermore he is presumably even more powerful in AOS than in the Old World, he just doesn't brag about it and I guess :p

Man, all these stories about Kroak make me wish they updated his model...but when you think about it, what more can you really do to the current sculpt other than release it as a plastic kit? I feel the sculpt is already quite decent as it captures the patience and hidden/timeless power that is the Slann. Guess they might could have a different pose; like have his hands up forming a 'spirit bomb' meteor type spell...idk.

Still glad to see we have one of the strongest, if not THE strongest, caster in the lore. Here's hoping the new rules reflect this in some way or another!

If your argument got the greater demon is age and experience, Kroak has more. the lore doesn't specify whether the interstellar gate failed or was purposely destroyed by the old ones, but Kroak already existed when that happened. If it was a failure, then its collapse created the energies from which chaos spawned. If the Old Ones destroyed it intentionally because chaos could use it to enter the world, then it does mean that chaos (in its pure entropic form) existed prior to the gate collapsing, but that the primary gods didn't as they are said to have been formed by the destruction of that gate affecting said void.

in either situation, Kroak existed prior to the collapse of that gate. as he is older than that gates destruction, and the chaotic gods came into being upon its destruction, then he already has more age and experience than any creation made by said gods.

Wouldn't it be reasonable to say that Lord Kroak is basically a god? He's definitely earned the title more than Teclis or Nagash have. Even as a mummy, he's more powerful than Mazdamundi was, and he destroyed an entire Dwarven empire BY ACCIDENT!

I'd say it would, but at this point in AOS that seems to be true for all Slann, so you might even want a tier list of gods, or since AOS seems to be loosely based on norse mythology you could say that the Slann and Kroak are not gods but 'Vanir' (well still technically gods but of another type), or if you go with greek/roman mythology the gods of AOS are the gods from greek mythology while Slann and Kroak are Titans.
