Blog The Jade Host: Mayan Lizardmen

These are gorgeous units, and those fillers are absolutely perfect.

Thanks for the compliments!

Next project: terrain pieces.

I decided to test out some magnets I purchased, I am going to incorporated them into one of the two pieces I am putting together. Here are the plans:

Top part of the temple, with the magnets to go in the corners.

My assistant slowing down my work:

First base, with the top of the temple to go above it.

Updated WIP pictures of both temple projects:

Underneath the magnetized temple-building I made a small plaza:

detail (not supposed to be sideways...)

Here you can see both with the top off to the side.

The second temple I am currently working on:

Also made a trap door in the roof!

why you making so much good scenery? Its coming along nicely!

Its fun! And cheap. Casting some stones would definitely make it seem more realistic, but the painting is very soothing.

Some more WIP pics, plus the first few with actual paint :artist:

Here is a group shot with the main terrain buildings I have constructed so far, shows the look I am going for.

Rattlesnake Temple- with added Rattlesnake on the side.

Tuloom Temple: added a small window in the rear of the structure, similar to the actual temple itself (light would show through on special times during the year).

Good stuff as always. It's all coming along very nicely.

I'm getting the itch to make some terrain.

I saw someone use Razordons as Unit fillers once. So a thought for another unit filler would be a reptile about that size (like a plastic one) as sort of a unit mascot.

Or grab a few of Reapers Warlord range Lizardmen. Some of them fit best on cavalry bases and would offer a 2x2 option for a filler.

That is a good idea, I was considering casting some custom salamanders when I get around to modeling them. Got to do more basing first. Someone on this site I believe did something similar with small plastic velociraptors as stands in for kroxigors or just as plain unit fillers. Looked really great, but I can't find the picture.

Also found these on Ulthuan:

The Reaper guys are called Reptus (mostly) but they have some more RPG oriented vanilla Lizardmen as well.

I have seen these before, I have considered purchasing some at one point. They looked similar to the ones @Drimon has in his D&D collection.

I also found this guy while doing a google search to check them out. I am pretty sure was inspired by our own @Bowser:

And some close ups of the murals themselves!

I went back and fixed the mouth on this one, he looked to "undead" to me:

I am very pleased with how the inside of the Tuloom Temple looks:

Just some painting progress shots. This one was so much fun to do.

The glyphs spell out "Tuloom Temple Tzunki." It was too late by the time I started painting to change the order...

And a cool shot looking in the door, though its blurry:

I have the drawings I did already posted at my art thread.
