I have all my army with old models from 5/6th edition. (I stopped to play at 7th edition so haven’t updated army until now)
Now I bought a Bastiladon and noticed how bigger is the model compared others. Bastiladon is sincerely still ok but looking at a lot of picture of both ancient Stegadon and new carnosaur they seem enourmous compared to old models…
I have also seen that Aggradon from AoS are quite similar to the old carnosaur but maybe just a bit bigger.

Can you help me and suggest your experiences about which should I buy? I have no carnosaur model so it’s a bit hard to just decide from pictures…
(I will probably play only one carnosaur and no troglodon if it may help…)
    Thanks!

I have both the 6th and 8th edition carnosaurs. I have designated the 6th edition version to be a scar vet mount and the 8th will be an oldblood mount. So there's no reason not to have both in your army, potential financial concerns notwithstanding.

Is the 8th edition one the latest version? I have just built the Troglodon version and am surprised by how much the model overhangs the base

    My solution to the overhang:

Sorry which is the solution? The bigger base? I’ll probably gonna to put some rocks under the old carnosaur to make it stands even more and overhaul then less

The base has the same size footprint, but it angles up so he appears to be rearing up and can go base-to-base with most units.

Oh I saw it now! ;)

smart and probably more stable than just some rock in the base. Thank I’ll think about something similar. Did you made it by yourself or did you bought a ready base?

I put two 50x100 bases on top of each other, and then glued two 25x25 bases standing up on one end to make the triangle. I filled in the sides with another 50x100 base I cut up.

If you haven't got the new plastic carno kit yet, and can afford it, I highly recommend that. Its such a wonderful model

I agree, it is quite big though. Also - I think the old carnosaurs are poor sculpts.

Has there ever been another type of troglodon?

No. It was introduced with the plastic kit. Best I've seen is people taking the leftover bits from the Carno that make a Trog and using them to convert an aquatic trog.
