Best I can find is it is a "Skink Shaman". Anyone know what edition of the game? Any rules for it or lore on it anywhere?
He is an old school skink wizard (think right back to the very first Lizardmen models) can’t remember the edition - but early up until about 6-8 I’d say before we got the new lot. Can’t remember for the life of me what his stats where, I was only young and got him as a present because he looked cool
Isn't it a Skink Priest: Beast? There was also one Skink Priest: Heaven if I recall correctly, but I am stumped as far as stats and edition goes.
Think one of my first ever conversions was that guys head stuck onto another skinks body and painted purple ;D I’ll have to try dig him out ‘ah the memories’
Is the Skink "Shaman" of the 5th edition of Warhammer Fantasy. If I remeber correctly, there were no skink priests back then.
Okay thanks. Found the following information about it: SKINK SHAMANS It is very rare for a Skink to possess any skill in the arts of magic; this is the preserve of the Slann. However, since the time of the rise of the god Sotek there have been a few Skinks with shamanic and prophetic abilities in every spawning. This is perhaps linked to the undoubted patronage of Sotek himself. This hidden god began principally as the god of the Skinks and appeared to save them and lead them against the Skaven menace. Only later was Sotek acknowledged by the haughty Slann. By this time some highly intelligent Skinks, such as Tenehuini the Prophet of Sotek, had gained shamanic powers by invoking the snake god. Since those days Shamans have continued to appear among the Skinks. They are recognised among the newly spawned because they bare the marks of Sotek. Skink Shamans however have always remained roughly equivalent to the lowest level of Mage-Priest in their magical powers. Couldn't find any official artwork or box art of the model though.
Definitely fifth edition... try looking for the armybook via Google... boxart will be hard to find since he came in a blisterpack and the were all just red cards with no artwork on them back then...
They do look cute with their little skull hats. They do remind me of something though..... Ah! Here it is!
Based on model similarity I'm 90% certain the Skink Priest on Engine of the Gods is the successor model to the Skink Shaman old school model:
Yeah I think so. It is a nice model. I also regularly use him as a Skink Priest or Starpriest when I need an additional one.
He was one of my first miniatures that I've painted far too many times now. Most recently in the painting competition a few months ago. First hobby book I got was the Warhammer 2002 Annual that included big sections on lizardmen, brettonians, and dogs of war if memory serves. Also duped friends into getting excited and spend money with that book...
Does anyone have the Warhammer Lizardmen Collectors Guide 2005 that I can download? Not that keen on subscribing to scribed to get it. Also: Long time reader, first time poster. Just started up with AoS after a 15year hiatus from WHFB. Got quite a lot of 5th, 6th and 7th edition models that need converting.
