With my local group getting into 6th edition WHFB, I’ve gone back to my beloved lizards. When the group dropped Fantasy when AoS started, I had other priorities for painting. I’m not a great painter by any means. For me it’s an arms length test - if they look ok at arms length on the table its good enough for me. The pic shows some saurians and skinks. Any feedback/advice welcome.
Awesome, interesting color scheme, I might consider using a wash on the saurus scales and maybe a highlight on their shields/spikes
Yes. Or maybe a lighter, or darker, skin color on the saurus? Something to add more contrast to the yellow. An interesting color scheme.
@Sreeves i have done a brown wash in them, but the pic is not great. I hadn’t thought of highlighting, but that sounds like a great idea. (I’m not a great painter lol). Re colour scheme, I wanted to do something that was different. I had wanted to do my Temple Guard in red, but bought 20 preprinted a long time ago which were blue, so it was better to follow suit with blue. Why red? Well they’re guards. In UK ceremonial dress for Guards is a red tunic. So...... @LizardWizard thanks. As above, wanted something different. The contrast is quite striking but some animals which live in the jungle have striking colours which break up the outline of the body. That’s my excuse anyway, and I’m sticking to it lol.
@Just A Skink thanks. Sorry you ninjad my reply! Pic is not great but they have had a wash with a brown. Maybe do so again?
Oops. Sorry about that. Yeah, my friends who use their phones rarely get good photos without adjusting them later. Well, you could wash them again. But I would hate for you to dull the yellow more if you want to keep them bright, as you mentioned. If you're using GW paints, do you have an "orange" wash like Casandora Yellow? Or you could just highlight the scales (or skin, your choice) with a lighter yellow?
Awesome, can't wait to see the color scheme your gonna do on some of your big dinos if/when you do them
@Warden thanks. Still working on them! The spikes on the shields are now bronze/gold in colour. Will probably do the weapons the same colour. Trying to get the army done for October for my first ever WHFB tournament! In total I have 60ish saurus and 30 skinks (as above WIP). 6 chamo skinks, 16 cold one cavalry, 6 kroxigor stand ins, 10 temple guard and a slann to go!
