Hello, I'm new to Age of sigmar, I've been playing with friends for about a month, and I've loved the Seraphon! I have decided to make my first purchase and I am not sure which box to buy, first I show them what I have: 1 Slann Starmaster 1 Eternity warden 15 Temple Guard 2 Skink Priest 3 Kroxigor 15 Skink 1 Saurus OldBlood I thought of the start collecting Seraphon, but I was also interested in buying two boxes of saurus warriors, what do you think? Is it convenient for me to buy one of these or do I want to buy another? I do not know which would be better because I do not know much about the game, so I looked for advice or help in that sense. What box do you recommend to buy? Thank you very much!
Welcome! If you like Saurus I think I would still recommend getting a Start Collecting box because you can make SO many things out of that one for a lot of different lists, including an Astrolith Bearer for example, which is a very useful Saurus hero. Our friend @Crowsfoot made this thread about it: http://lustria-online.com/threads/getting-the-most-from-your-start-collecting-seraphon-box.20560/ But after that, yeah, if you want to go Saurus heavy then you will need 2-3 boxes of Saurus Warriors. The minimum to properly play Saurus are 40 Saurus, and if you want to try out the Sunclaw Starhost bataillon which makes them pretty good you will need a minimum of 40+10+10, so 60 Saurus, and a Sunblood to support them.
Thanks for your answer! I have a doubt Should you play with saurus? or what strategy is better? I have seen that many take formations more to bastilodones with many skinks, or that use Engine of the gods. Or which is the one that is better now?
Well, I'll be honest: I like big beasts and I cannot lie big beasts are usually ridden by Skinks, so....Skinks rule. Saurus, especially with the Sunclaw bataillon are not bad though (in fact there was a mass Saurus list in the top5 of a recent tournament IIRC) , you just need a lot of them since they suck in small units. If you build a solid lists using proper synergies they can be effective. It depends on your play stlye (and on your opponents) as well.
First off, Welcome!!!! Secondly if assembled properly, the "Seraphon" (@NIGHTBRINGER goes into a fit of autistic rage) starter kit will get you 1 Astrolith bearer 1 Carno with Old blood/Scar-vet on it 1 troglodon 1 skink priest 1 one Sun blood (or old blood) on foot 3 Scar-vets on Cold ones 10 Saurus warriors 5 Saurus knights I can go into detail on how to make each, but I won't unless you want me to. The Starter kit it sooooo good! If assembled in the way I specified, it gives you At least $95 more of value then the normal starter kit. (7 extra heros at 15 bucks apiece would be $95) and an extra behemoth! Here to help, ~Carnage
Do you want a simple answer as to which strategy is better? The answer, NONE!!! The rule books are always changing. What might be "better" now might suck tomorrow! So choose miniatures that you like, and work from there.
I think the best choice is the Start Collecting Box as well. You would have, this: 1 Slann Starmaster 1 Eternity warden 15 Temple Guard 2 Skink Priest 3 Kroxigor 15 Skink 1 Saurus OldBlood ......plus, all this: 1 Astrolith bearer 1 Carno with Old blood/Scar-vet on it 1 troglodon 1 skink priest 1 one Sun blood (or old blood) on foot 3 Scar-vets on Cold ones 10 Saurus warriors 5 Saurus knights ...by the time you finish assembling. A very nice variety of models to pick from.
I think you might be wrong. I searched all over amazon and the official shop, and there is no set with those sprues. There is no Slann model, and no Kroxigor models on the sprue. If you custom made them like I am doing... but that wouldn't be part of the kit.
"There is no Slann model, and no Kroxigor models on the sprue." That's because they are not plastic. (they are either metal or resin depending on what casting you get)
Exactly. The models I listed were what he already had + the start collecting box. You got it in one @Aginor.
Somewhat belated welcome to the forums! I normally say let us know if you have any questions but at looks like we already have some healthy questioning and answering here.
