Thank you all so much for the kind words, it really keeps me motivated! I'll get to some replies tomorrow, just wanted to post a quick update as I'm back in the saddle after a small break and looking to finish him up! Got the aquarium foliage in place, gonna start painting it tomorrow hopefully.
Thank you! I'm not sure of any local painting contests unfortunately. I'm going to adepticon in 2023 but he's not Golden Demon worthy. Maybe I'll work on something for that, but it would have to be much smaller haha. The staff is indeed a pokeball! I've been occasionally posting the progress on the LO discord as well and I'm glad a couple people have picked up on that! All my ridden/domesticated dinos are painted with various pokemon themes so I felt it made sense for kroak to have the pokeball. There's even some on this model...
Thanks a lot! Planning out the colors and trying to find some balance while still being able to have vibrant, popping colors was a real challenge, it's SUCH a busy model. I think some of it still gets lost overall but I'm glad you like it!
Thank you, that means a lot! There's a lot of talent on this forum that I look at for inspiration as well, keeps us all moving forward
I'm obsessed with your Kroak. It's turning out to be incredible. You've got some great plants too! I like using aquarium plants too but it's hard for me to find good shapes in the stores where I live. I'm also in love with all the details. The PokeBall staff, for one... Has anyone else pointed out the snakes are all Ekans colored? Because couldn't help but notice that too.
Yeah the pet store is a great place to check for materials, I was lucky to find some decent options and what looks like a monstera which is a pretty iconic jungle plant to help set the vibe. You're the first to recognize the Ekans, awesome! He's even got a couple shinies, I figured if you've been around for 1,000,000 years you'd have some shinies in your collection!
Amazing work man! such an awesome centerpiece for your army or cabinet of painted models Grrr, !mrahil
May I ask what kind of glue you use? The particular aquarium decor that I have, at least, doesn't respond to typical super glue and I've had to resort to inserting them into tiny globs of hot glue and then subsequently hiding the glue under terrain. Your monstera looks planted a lot more neatly!
I used gorilla glue to attach everything. The ferns went on fine with it, the monstera I actually drilled a hole through the base and glued it in that way. I don't think it would have worked out just gluing it, it was too top heavy for such a small connection point
Kroak is done! Wall of pics incoming! Thank you all for the support along the way, it was an awesome journey. Hard to believe I started this project on 6/28...4 months ago
Truly fantastic job! You should be very proud I love the family photo. They are all painted very well and I love the different colour schemes.
