I must of missed the post about totems what does that entail in 3rd?
Apparently Totem keyworded units can use command abilities in 3e, meaning that at the very least the Dread Saurian can use CP for the basic command abilities like the +1 to hit, +1 to save, etc. Meaning that he's going to rely less on having a Starseer or Slann around him to get buffed.
Or perhaps it can be used to make a voltron dread saurian. Wait that means I can hit on 2s with my jaws
That's fair. I can attest to Skaven getting the better deal though, since a unit of 40 clanrats gets the horde discount vs a unit of 40 stabbas.
Still going to dread the "elite goblin phalanx" though.
More leaks from 3rd edition
I guess the reinforcement point rumor is true.
That...really sucks for us.
Sucks even more if you liked Saurus
Maybe reinforcement units are units that you summon?
This rule set is starting to remind me of 8th ed Fantasy. Not sure how I feel about that.
Looks like I'll be making my own Age of Sigmar with all those changes.
I truly hate the concept of reinforcement. The Priest is not useful anymore unless you're buffing a Stegadon/Basti. Starpriest, almost the same, or Knights only.
Infantry won't hold an objective against a Behemoth or Elite unit, like Varanguard or Blood Knights, as they can't be an horde anymore.
I'm guessing they're going to release a massive FaQ like 9Ed because I don't see how are we going to play with any book right now.
We need to heavily rethink our strategies.
40 skinks with starpriest and priest are no longer usable. Saurus Warriors are now useless? Saurus Knights.
If this is right, then limitation to 1+/-1 to hit/wound is also true.
Reinforcement points should now be allocated to hard hitting tough units, like Kroxigors
I wonder why you'd include an understrength unit? Maybe to fill out points?
My french is rusty but it seems like you can take 0-1 understrength units of each "type." Not entirely sure what "type" refers to here, maybe keyword related?
maybe battleline or others (like 7 warriors or 2 kroxigors)
What do you think?
bye bye faction battallions -.-
well, this is interesting
If this goes on like that, I think I'll stick to 2.0 rules or play some "recreate battle" type games.
Eh. They're fine. Core Battalions we're never something I was dreading coming to the game and there's nothing really wrong with these
Wow, they really are gutting hordes and making it all about monsters and elite troops now. Even if you do allocate your reinforcement points to getting 30 melee troops you can't use them effectively in combat due to the new coherency rules. What the hell even is this version going for? Are they just trying to push people to buy their big centerpiece models and expensive elite units? So much for the "best ruleset ever" baloney...
*Edit* Not that I mind dinosaurs being a better choice than Skink hordes, but I never wanted them to essentially remove large units from the freaking game!
Also, core battalions suck. Every ability is a once per battle bonus that you normally get with CP and getting a one-drop deployment is an entire battalion bonus?
My first thought on the core battalions is there is zero reason for them to not actually have used words.
