Hi everyone! So I've decided to start a lizardmen/seraphon army (don't know which name here is popular, I'm okay with both). I've never played a TT Warhammer before, but was collecting and painting various minis from this universe for quite some time. But now I've decided to start playing as well So here's my first 1k army list based around start collecting box from which I've already assembled Oldblood on Carnosaur (cause he's cool and, if I'm not being wrong, is and old Kroq-Gar model): I also really wanted to add Bastiladon with big laser and Ripperdactyls, but I'm probably going to be ok with replacing one of these two units for something, that'll perform better. I don't really want this list to be build against my friend's certain armys (since he's not building them to be good against my army, though he's sort of a power gamer). Oh and also, all that webstore exclusive finecast stuff is kinda hard to get in my country, so it'd be reaaaly cool if at least this 1k list would include none, but I'm planning to get some of them later via my local store. Probably Slann a Saurus Sunblood. If you think there're some other webstore exclusive models I should get, please, tell me which.
Hmmm at least for the Skink Priest/Starpriest you can avoid resin by kitbashing yourself one from the Troglodon rider that you didn't use. You can also convert one of your Daurus Knights to a Scar Veteran on Cold One. If you get a second starter set you can then play a Firelance Starhost already. Provided you like Saurus Knights. You can then play a list similar to this one (yeah I know 50 points too much but among friends you probably won't care too much) Allegiance: Seraphon Leaders Saurus Oldblood on Carnosaur (280) - Artefact: Blade of Realities Saurus Scar-Veteran on Cold One (100) - General - Trait: Thickly Scaled Hide - Artefact: Coronal Shield Skink Priest (80) - Priestly Trappings Battleline 5 x Saurus Knights (100) - Lances - Seraphon Battleline 5 x Saurus Knights (100) - Lances - Seraphon Battleline 5 x Saurus Knights (100) - Lances - Seraphon Battleline Behemoths Troglodon (180) Battalions Firelance Starhost (110) Reinforcement Points (0) Total: 1050 / 1000 Allies: 0 / 200 Later, for 1.5k you could replace the Troglodon by a Bastiladon and add some warriors or so and have a nice little army. Not too competitive but cool.
already did that. I've heard that knights are not really that good or it the case of it depends on how you use them? I was also thinking of making a shadowstrike starhost with 2x units of 40 skinks, a priest/startpriest, terradon riders and an oldblood on carnosaur as general. Do you think this will be an okay list?
About the Knights: They are only bad if you talk about a really competitive setting. They are decent and I have won games with them. But they are glass cannons so you have to play them tactically well or they will die quickly. Your Shadowstrike is not bad at all. Most people favor Ripperdactyls over Terradons, but Terradons have their advantages and they work. Plus IMO they look much better which is why I use them. They don't profit much from an Oldblood General though. IMO most likely a Slann would be the better choice if you play a Shadowstrike. But dont let that stop you. The Oldblood can use his command ability to buff himself and then he is a huge threat that your enemy has to focus on which might help your Shadowstrike a lot.
I wanted to add them, but then the list would cost be 1070 points, which I think is even with friends kinda too much, but with Terradons it's 1050. Thank you for your help! What webstore exclusive units you think I should get ASAP?
Hmmm really depends on what you want. I love Kroxigor but they are a pain to build. Nice against hordes though. Razordons are disgustingly expensive but sooooo cool. If you like Guards then an Eternity Warden is a must. Sunblood is great if you want to do a Saurus army and it looks awesome. Slann. Yeah Slann. Since GHB2017 he's in almost every list because he rocks. Kroak if you want. .....so yeah I just named almost every resin midel which doesn't help you much I fear. All of them are really cool though and almist every unit in our army is viable for some play style, which is something great and unusual in AoS. Most armies have much less choice.
My main reason to start Lizardmen was that Kroq-Gar model. I thought like "Hmm, that model is a must have, but if I buy a start collecting box I'll get some other units as well basically for free, since this box costs the same as Carnosaur by itself. Maybe I should start an army as well then"
