Just trying to get my head around AOS again, Fast shooty list Allegiance: Seraphon Leaders Skink Starpriest (100) - Artefact: Phoenix Stone Saurus Scar-Veteran on Cold One (100) - General - Trait: Legendary Fighter - Artefact: Relic Blade Celestial Hurricanum With Celestial Battlemage (320) - Artefact: Phoenix Stone Battleline 20 x Skinks (160) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers 20 x Skinks (160) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers 5 x Saurus Knights (120) - Lances - Seraphon Battleline 5 x Saurus Knights (120) - Lances - Seraphon Battleline 5 x Saurus Knights (120) - Lances - Seraphon Battleline 10 x Spireguard (120) - Swifthawk Agents Battleline 10 x Spireguard (120) - Swifthawk Agents Battleline Units Battalions Firelance Starhost (60) Total: 1500/1500
Looks like a great idea for a list. However, my experiences with spireguard are not so great. Their shooting is pretty lackluster and they die fairly easily. If you want elf Battleline, than look no further than eternal guard. You can take 30 of these for the same price as 20 spireguard, and they synergise very well with hurricanum. The fortress of boughs ability makes them a strong defensive unit- improving to hit, to wound, and save by 1. They can protect your Skinks in the back whilst your Firelance runs rampant
Ok now I really have to ask: What's so special about that Hurricanum thing that it is used in every other Seraphon list? Why is it that great? Because of the +1 to hit? Or is it because of the mortal wounds it can deal?
Stick a mage on it amd you have a mortal wound ability rthat can cast mystic shield or unbind spells it allows your mage to move faster etc.
I have spireguard but will look at eternal guard, I also have sword masters, reavees, sisters of the watch and some gladeguard.
Here's a quick breakdown: - It can shoot mortal wounds three times a turn - It has another high mortal wound spell - It has a completely indiscriminate, unstoppable, infallible buff to the hit rolls of our entire faction - It can buff its own casting rolls, as well as other empire mages you take (most worthy of note to us are the Jade and Amber battlemages) - It has both decent bulk and movement speed It basically shores up our major weaknesses for a mere 320 points, it's a fantastic unit.
Ok, if you put it that way I understand. Thank you very much! ...it is still ugly. Not the thing on top but the horse coach itself, and also the humans on it. I hate the look of human models in Warhammer, to me they look.... strangely out of proportion and comic-like. I would probably buy it, but put the upper part on the back of a cool Dinosaur, and a nice Skink mage next to it.
Hmmm... I am playing with some ideas at the moment. One is to use cold ones to pull it instead of horses. But then the coach doesn't fit so well with all the skulls. Maybe use the one from the Luminark of Hysh instead, and just remove the "S"s and the "Karl Franz" texts and such, model over them with some putty and carve some aztec symbols in it. Then let it be pulled by two Cold Ones (with the armored head piece and some armor on their backs instead of the riders) or some bigger dinosaur. Would be pretty expensive but very cool. Alternatively you could mount it on a Bastiladon. Similar to how this guy replaced the solar engine with parts of a Luminark. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/fc/46/00/fc460081806f796c2647b49b185206f3.jpg
Due to the similarities in rules between Kroak and the Hurricanum, I'm magnetising kroak's butt and scratch building him a transparent meditiation chamber on the back of a stegadon to act as my Hurricanum (underlit with LEDs and everything). Frankly, this is the only way my Kroak model will ever see matched play in AOS...
I still hold out hope that in General's Handbook 2 he will come out as more playable with a decent points cost.
Yeah he definitely needs a point reduction, if not he is one model that will never see a pitched battle and that would be a shame.
