I'm a fairly new player and this will be the first time playing at this point value. And I want some advice on this list I put together. Ideally I' have the knights attack the back line and have my saurus guard be my frontb line units whilesummoning anything else I need. Other wise I was thinking of replacing the eternal starhost with shadowstrike for more chaff and battlefield manuverbility.

    Mortal Realm: Hysh

    Engine of the Gods (220)
    - Artefact: Coronal Shield
    Saurus Astrolith Bearer (160)
    Saurus Eternity Warden (140)
    - Artefact: Blade of Realities
    Skink Starpriest (80)
    Slann Starmaster (260)
    - General

If you want to win more than I would replace the Eternal Starhost with Shadowstrike.
Here is the list I use for Dracothion's Tail.

If you stick with the Eternal list then use your deepstrike to kill whatever enemy units are capable of dealing the most mortal wounds.

What do you mean? Are saurus guards not any good? Ignoring -1 rend and getting buffed by the eternal warden seems pretty good.

I also wouldn't be able to afford an eternity warden to protect my Slann of If went with shadowstrike list

Saurus Guard are particularly weak vs mortal wounds. If you can eliminate the enemy's mortal wounds out put then you should do fine with them. Take a look at the realm specific artifacts. Spellmirror from the Realm of Ulgu on your Eternity Warden can provide your SG with some much needed protection from spells.

You should give you Slann one of the -1 to be hit artifacts. Either the Grphy-feather Charm from Ghurr or the Misasmic Blade from Ulgu. Combined with look out sir, cogs, and balewind your Slann should be pretty durable.

I have yet to have a Slann slain in all the tournaments I have been too and have never fielded an Eternity Warden for an event. Keep in mind that you can LoSaT out of Combat.
