Contest Lustria Online - First sculpting competition POLL NOW OPEN

I'd be happy to allow none Lizards, but non lizard work might affect voting from forum goers.

1. No, I'd prefer it, but aware of how busy life is/can be for people.
2. No, conversions are welcome.
3. No, might affect other peoples' voting preferences (again, same thing happened with the converting/sculpting contest I took part in on Carpe Noctem).

I already know what I'm doing he has been staring at me for months wanting some love.

So my entry will be The forge world Slann with greenstuff additions :D

Re-read my first post, you'll see that I'm not taking part, some might consider it unfair if the organizer enters. :p

Do what I'm doing in the terrain comp, enter but once voting is closed discard yourself and award the prizes to the top 3.

After all we all know your super talented but maybe just maybe someone may produce something that we all love and imagine the thrill one of us would get if we beat the master, so yeah enter please.

I'll get in on this, but I have some questions on the eligibility of my potential entries.

1. Does it have to be a recent sculpt? (My last one was finished around Febuary).
2. Does it have to be 100% putty? (I have some nice sculpts that are about 90%, I used some bits for arms).
3. Does it have to be a Lizardmen sculpt? (I'm very proud of my sculpted Daemons, I'd like to submit one for an entry).

I've entered and done well in a lot of painting competitions, but never a sculpting one. It's funny, I have much more experience sculpting than painting. Needless to say this has me excited!

@neveroddoreven Were still waiting for your tutorial on painting a mini :banghead:

(I know you never said you were doing one but I keep trying)

Actually I did say I'd do one, maybe a Ripperdactyl? That or a Slann, but I don't have any idea on how to paint it yet.
Rikard, I'll send you some pictures of my sculpts and let you decide on which one I'll enter. Surprise me!

I have in mind a conversion/kit-bash of a lizardman piece that probably would not require any green-stuff (but maybe I could think of stuff to add).

Would that be welcome? Never mind (edit) reading more closely that would be a not so much.

I don't have any 3D software, but it is something I would like to get into. I could see creating a 3D component to add to the conversion above...thoughts?

Umm, software. What do you guys use? Zbrush?

My thought on 3D software sculpts is that if somebody sculpts nearly a whole model that it ought to be in its own category.

I have never seen anybody sculpt a few electronic 3D components that they then added to a regular model, like new better tails for chameleon skinks. It's one thing to sculpt in 3D but quite another to sculpt a 3D part that perfectly fits an existing kit. That seems exactly inline with your criteria.

- Does it need to be Lizardmen themed (I'm guessing yes, but I'd like clarification)?
- Does it need to be painted?

Z-brush or mudbox, but they're expensive...

Nice try, but I'm not going to do an additional scratch build for an additional category. :P

It would be, but (and I'm only guessing here), if you measure or even scan in the existing model that you want to add to, it wouldn't be that hard.

@Rikard VERYY NICE INITIATIVE man! I would really like to see more of this kind of activities in the forum! It really strengthens the comunity!

I am definatelly hoing to give this a try. I am a really slow painter and I have never sculpted anything before so I might not be able to finish it on time... I am however really excited about the contest and the prices (which are awesome) and I will try to do a push to have an entry!

You don't have to paint it, that's the best part. ;)

After years of absence, this contest is a nice reason to return to this forum.... I am in as well

Do you know which of the two is better? Easier to use? Advantages and disadvantages?

(I don't mean to derail the thread, I'm just very curious)

Honestly couldn't say, I think it's personal preference and prior experience, woogity, may well be the better person to speak to on this.

I know Kev White at Hassle free miniatures prefers Mudbox.

I have an idea at the moment... If I have much time I'll put it into pratice :)
How much time do we have to post the photos?
Doctor

Plenty is the short answer, but make sure you send them to me via PM, do NOT post them publicly.

UPDATES, UPDATES, UPDATES....

So I've been tinkering and sketching, trying my best to think of something good to sculpt (had originally thought of doing the Egg of Quango, with the Quango hatching from it).

However...I've thought of something possibly a bit better...
I REALLY want to help people with sculpture, all of you, regardless of how much, little experience you have AND abilities.

With that in mind, how does this as the first place prize grab you all?

Deadly serious here, especially if it gets more people interested/trying, the only thing I would ask is if you're not interested/a fan, please, please, please let me know, last thing I want is to see this appearing on ebay.

Give me feedback on the whole thing/ideas.
Especially if you have suggestions and preferences on deadlines with this contest. :)

Holy crap. Now I just HAVE to join in lol that thing is gorgeous.
